I'm a client facing CPA/CFP and almost always wear jeans.

Today I played golf, so ignore today.

Yesterday I wore jeans. Nice Jeans - 7 for all mankind. I also wore a pair of Magnanni monk straps and a matching Magnanni belt, a hickey freeman dress shirt and hickey freeman blazer.

But jeans, everyday.

Khakis and button down to work daily. If there is a corporate meeting suit with no tie or sport jacket with no tie. I hope to someday never own a pair of long pants and live my life in shorts and a polo shirt!

In court, meetings with lawyers and/or counsel then I'm in a suit.

Normal day in the office, then it's trousers and short sleeve shirt. Maybe long sleeves if I'm meeting clients.

Out on survey then it's boiler suit, boots and hard hat or cargo pants, polo, boots and hard hat.

When I repatriate back to the later UK this year, then it's collar and tie in the office.

T-shirt and jeans for me. Although I work in IT doing app development, so if I wore anything else I would stand out.

Shorts, Hawaiian Shirt, Panama hat and steel cap boots when at work. When not at work I lose the boots.

I wear a navy blue shirt and navy blue uniform pants with patches on the shoulders with a piece of metal pinned to my chest. The Rolex stays in my locker and the G-shock goes on

I work in finance. I don't ever see clients, but I wear slacks and a dress shirt every day. Our main concession is that we don't have to wear a tie unless there's a specific reason.

I also work in the financial industry and everybody dresses like slobs here. Anything goes is the creed. So I just wear jeans and an UnTuckit shirt as well.

I love the UnTuckit brand. I have been wearing their stuff for years and nice to see that they have really exploded.

One thing that does annoy me is the idea that khakis and a golf shirt are "business casual"

Every company is free to set their own dress code. but if an outfit could be worn for a round of golf, then call it what it is: smart casual

My job takes me from talking to a guy in the field to negotiating contracts and going to Sacramento to visit with elected officials.

So on any day I could be in a Hawaiian shirt and Levi's or suit and tie. Prefer the Hawaiian shirt.

I do IT consulting for some clients, and some property management for another.

My clients are VERY casual, so I just ensure that I'm dressed presentable and one notch above how my clients dress.

I'm an attorney and I wear jeans every day that I'm not in court - and I'm almost never in court anymore! I do wear a button down shirt with a blazer though.

I let my staff dress how they want as long as they don't dress like slobs. It's 10 women though so they all dress cute because... they're women.

Business casual minus - jeans and an Oxford, tucked in. Chinos if clients visiting.

Seth, while some great advice has been given, I think this is a personal option.

I know you own your own business, but I don't know the industry. You have the job you want, so you don't have to dress for a promotion. You're the boss, so you can dress how you want.

Dress for your industry. Dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable. Don't let your attire prevent you from closing a deal.

Lastly, since you gave up the sauce and are now working out more, you will probably need a new wardrobe. Get what you want!

More than anything I’m curious about the evolution of the dress code.

I own a construction company. For the most part, I’m very over dressed for the last few years. I believe fully in dressing for a role. But everything is just getting so relaxed. And as I age, and relax a bit myself, I’m thinking I can go from a tucked in buttondown, to one that is untucked.

Lots of interesting feedback from this post. Ive enjoyed it immensely.

Ive enjoyed the replies as well. My industry is similar. I still wear everything tucked in and buttoned up, but more casual brands - Patagonia, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, etc. I do own some Untucked stuff for weekend wear. I also really like Bonobos.

Wow Rick, if your wife goes into your closet she must think she's married to a millipede!

Aww thx! We hired a closet tailor a few years back to redesign the closet my wife and I shared. She informed us that she could only do so much with the space we had. She then asked "is that an extra room I saw near the back door" my wife said "we are going to turn that room into my office/prayer room". I said, "why? You don't have a job and you can pray anywhere". Obviously, this one worked out in my favor and we converted the extra room into a dream closet for me. My wife is GREAT gal!!!

I would get so confused in that closet!

What I love about working in tech is that jeans, sneakers and a black t-shirt is the basic uniform of success.
