I’m a master hand engraver and have worn a GMT since 1978. Not exactly rough work but I’ve also worn it operating a lathe, mill, etc. I don’t baby my watches. They take their knocks and keep ticking.

Used car dealer here. I desk dive and hands on and under cars throughout the day. A Tudor Ranger was my daily but now it's my Air King. Save my SubC and Milgauss for all other times.

why not ?

just have to be careful

IMHO if you have it on whilst doing physical tasks, especially if they involve tools, I would only have a ceramic bezel model

metal bezels get scratched just hovering in the air ...

Going on 20+ years in an actual trade but never wear mine to work.

Way too dangerous -electrically and mechanically- and it would be destroyed (visually or literally) within a year or two.

Work in the hospital and I don’t wear my nicer watches. People already look at my watch and ask why I wear a nice watch to work (movado). If I was a Doctor then I’d wear my Rolex lol

I flip houses so I’m always working on different projects and general construction. I like the idea of wearing my 14060M or 16570 all the time. After all they are “tool watches”. However, a little more risky than desk diving.

Anyone else wear their rolexes while working with their hands?

Would love to know. Cheers.

Does watchmaker count as a 'blue collar' job? If so, then yes, I wear my watch while working with my hands.

I'm OK with it. If I don't wear them to work I would never wear them. For years they just sat in a draw or watchbox. My SO would see me looking at them longingly from time to time and finally she told me to start wearing them or sell them.

I'm about to go back onto building sites after 15 years away, I never wore a watch before and I certainly wouldn't wear one now. I don't care how tough they are it would get destroyed and I have no desire to do that to an expensive watch.

I've tried to convince my wife to wear her Lady's DJ in steel/WG fluted bezel on jubilee daily.

She's changing careers and currently doing an internship at a hospital, but won't wear it while working. Her opinion is it's too flashy with scrubs. If it was two tone with diamond set or yellow/everose gold I'd agree.

Any health professionals wear DJs to work in scrubs? Not that line of profession should matter. I think complimenting with attire matters more.

I was a Detective, Lieutenant and wore an Explorer II everyday for twenty three years. It got a few dings and scratches but nothing serious.

Not quite the trades, but no work in dentistry. I tried to wear an Apple Watch (hated it... and lost it). I wear my Rolexes everywhere however. Working out, running, gardening, etc. They can take the abuse.

Depends on the trade. I own a construction based trade business. Just because its blue collar doesnt mean its a job that would really put the watch at risk. I would have ANY watch screaming for mercy. Whether I could afford to throw away the money or not I choose not to do it. Put it this way. A Gshock took to much of a beating. LoL. Yes it still worked but the outside is literally destroyed. ultimately I needed full wrist articulation and got sick of taking it off to fit into small places etc. hence no work watch anymore. Honestly some times I can tell how “good” another trade person in the same trade as me is by how their watch looks if they’re wearing one LMAO.

Any manufacturing plant I've worked at had a zero ring or watches policy due to safety policies. So no chance for me besides my desk jobs.

ER Nurse here too! I have yet to wear my Explorer to work. I usually wear my little G Shock because of the quick read military time. Couple Docs have Subs and on has a great 5 series Coke GMT. None of them are really watch guys tho, so I would bet my 214270 would go unnoticed. I honestly have no idea why I havn't worn it, I think I just got really used to my G-shock from when I was a tech.

I had my watch for a month and a half and only started to wear it to work today. I patrol the streets of Chicago and can get a little rough. I figure I can always get it polished when it needs service.

Working chef here serving about 500 meals a day. Been wearing my Milgauss daily since I got it in May of 2017. I wear the YM to work if I’m having a paper day or meetings. My staff think I’m crazy to wear a Rolex in the kitchen. Lol.

Military guy here: I wear my 114270 to work all the time and Don’t ever worry about it. If we’re doing something intense in the field I’ll put it on a nato but that’s more about comfort than saving the bracelet.
