ND for me. Went through the same thing myself and chose ND. Date can be nice, but usually I’m good at remembering the date and if not I always have my phone calendar anyway. I need a date about 1/10 as frequently as I need to know the time, and 80% of the time I already know the date. So I went with the dial symmetry of the ND....plus it’s $1k cheaper which doesn’t hurt.
Absolutely no regrets after 10 months of daily wear. It runs accurate enough that with positional regulation I will unscrew my crown for the third time this weekend....once when I first got it, once when DST ended and now this weekend when DST starts again. I love having a watch that require so little intervention and is always accurate and ready to go. |

Only No Date if it's a two-liner. Otherwise, Date.

I guess if one used the correct names, Sub, Sub Date, Explorer, Explorer 2, many would be lost.

I'd say that's right. I think a lot of people here use technically incorrect names not out of ignorance, but for clarity and ease of use. If I say "Sub," not everyone is going to be clear on whether I'm referring to a Sub with a date or without one. If I say "no-date Sub," everyone will know I'm talking about a Sub without a date, even if purists might bristle at the redundancy of the term. For that reason, I tend to use Sub to universally refer to any Submariner. If I need to be more specific, I'll say no-date Sub or Sub Date.

I say No Date. I prefer the dial symmetry and the fact that I never have to worry about setting the date if I put the watch down for a couple days.

If I went into it not really caring about using the date feature I'd definitely go with the ND. Dial looks cleaner and symmetrical. But for me personally, I have to have the date. Can't think of a day where I haven't used it at least once.

The same could be said of the time, too. The wristwatch makes things more convenient and easily accessible on the wrist, whether it be simply the time, or many more complications.

LOL! Seriously though, I only look at my watch for time but I never have the need to look at the date. It could be the nature of my work but I seem to always know what date it is. But, as I said, everyone's different.

I chose ND because it's the "One" I've wanted for a very long time and that gives me an excuse to get another.......The ND will never leave me.
