I can relate to the OP's situation. I purchased my first sub in 1999 in while visiting Monaco. Don't know why I sold it, but I did. Since then, I've owned a number of Rolex divers including a 14060M, a 16660 Sea Dweller, a Deep Sea, and now a 114060. I really disliked the super case at first, but having worn it most days for the past 18 months, I really grew to like it...until now. Lately, for some reason, I've started to really appreciate the shape of the 5 digit subs, and I have reverted back to my original position relative to the 6 digits. They are just not as elegant. As a result, I just traded my Exp2 for an M serial 16610 which arrived today. So, after 19 years, I'm right back where I started. I'll hang onto my 114060 and will likely give it to my son in a few years.

Those pictures really give a good demonstration on how the newer ceramic Subs wear so much larger than the older models even though they are both 40mm. I still lean towards the new model for the ceramic bezel and improved bracelet, but those 5-digits have a lot of charm to them!
