Get the DD40 for all gold. I saw a person wearing an all gold blue sub and maybe it was because we were inside with eh lighting but it looked lackluster. The DD40 on the other hand always is recognizable and very appealing imo. Im going to be getting the YG DD and then a two tone bluesey which imo is the best thing for a sub where you get the durability of a sports watch with the SS and a nice finishing touch with the gold so you can dress it up.

Tough choice, but since you have a ss submariner already, I would go with the yg DD. You can’t go wrong with either, just be aware of the very limited adjustability of the DD bracelet.

I ended up with both in the collection.

DD40 with silver dial over the champagne. But champagne with baguettes over that I would say. YG blue Sub is a beauty though

Sport vs Formal. All gold I would do formal. I might consider a Daytona in gold.

It comes down to owning one of the most iconic sports watches in existence vs. the classic, flagship Rolex which is able to be dressy as well as sporty. It really depends on your lifestyle and what environment you’ll be wearing the watch the most in.

The DD40 in YG with the president braclet is very iconic and special and would provide some diversity. It's also a great watch to mark one's passage into the later years when you reflect on your accomplishments more. Good luck and Cheers!

Without a doubt, the 116618LB Blue Dial YG Sub... by far my favorite Rolex... inclusive of the Daytona and all the hard to find SS models..

plus I feel like the gold DD is just too much of an "old man" watch... always see guys in their 60's wearing those.

holy moly! Beautiful collection. Sorry to hijack the thread, but man, how do you manage your rotation?

To the OP:, it's a really tough call. Both watches are obviously extraordinary. After you give your son your sub, this will technically be a one and only. To me, that's gotta be a sub.

If you were to keep your 14060 I'd say to get the DD40, you'd have an amazing two watch rotation.
