I felt the 114060 to be too flashy for my tastes. The cerachrom and sapphire reflect a lot and draw attention to the watch. 14060 and 116600 much less so!!!

Sub is not loud by its design itself. I think GMT is even "louder" than Sub, because of its big bezel numerals, the extra hand, and the shiny bracelet. Of course, any watch in full yellow-gold is very loud.

This. I tried looking at other people's watch while walking around. I can't even recognize most of it from that distance so no, most people won't even notice.

No, not loud at all. You have to put the watch very close to your ears to hear the ticking.

4 and 5 digit series not at all. The 6 digit watches are too much bling for me. Even in SS.

I think only a watch-person will notice your watch. Others have no clue.

I wouldn't say the SS ones are too loud, however, being a big Rolex fan my Rodar can pick them up from about 50 feet away

the only reason they are is because everyone knows what it is. Doesnt matter if its SS or full gold. a sub is a sub and people will notice.

YES. ABSOLUTELY YES!

To anyone who desire to own one and don't want admit that they want it. To them, it is LOUD. They give any reason they can to tell themselves not to buy it, not wanting to buy it, they hate like the brand... and they can't stop paying attention to it. Every time, every where, every direction, they see submariner.

What so loud about submariner? It is perhaps the most copied design on the market. gazillion brands have their version of submariner. Every watch kinda look submariner alike. How in the world that is possible that submariner is loud!?

When you pay attention to it, think it is. If you have no interest, why pay attention to Submariner?

I think these watches are "loud," in the sense that they scream, "ROLEX!".

Personally, I think a black sub is so ubiquitous (as far as Rolex models go) that few notice it beyond wis. YG, sure it’ll get noticed....but so will a YG anything....

No.

Sometimes people are too worried what the other’s might think if I wear this or that. No matter what you wear or do, there is always someone who dislikes.

With watches (and everything) it is always the best way to follow your heart!

I don't consider a black SS Sub / SD to be loud. TT, YG and sunburst dial are a different story.

It's all relative. Every time I see an AP Royal Oak offshore, I think to myself how beautiful it is, but then I also think that it's too loud and flashy for me. I don't think that about a black dial SS sub or even a Bluesy. However, no doubt the Bluesy is pushing it towards the edge in terms of being too loud and flashy. Any solid gold watch is too loud for me (IMHO).

After owning the full gold version for nearly 2 months I can say that the SS version is very low profile but the full YG version is the perfect f**k off watch!
