Passing on watches you don't want personally and waiting for the watch you do want?
Absolutely you made the right choice. |

Sounds like you’ve made the right decision based on purchases denying you the options on what seems to be your preferred colours of these 2 watches!
Me, I’d take any SS Daytona at retail as I like the look of both colours and would have to count myself lucky to be offered either at retail! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You made the right choice. If they don't speak to you, they don't speak to you. I would not have taken the black SS Daytona with prejudice to getting the white dial, and at least you had the chance to check it out in person and confirmed you want the white. It seems your relationship is good enough that you can rely on their promise you'll get the white soon enough.

I’m surprised that people would buy ANY model that wasn’t their preference. So fully understand the OP’s choice to wait until his preference is available.
But it is good to try on the model to evaluate dial legibility, size and other aspects. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

In today’s Rolex drought, I would’ve bought that black dial Daytona as long as it was at msrp. If you wore it and hated it, you would’ve made money when you traded it in.

I experienced the same dilemma as you last month. I was on the waiting list for a white Daytona C, but got the call for the Black. It didn’t take me long to go with the black. My rationale is 1) who knows when the white would come in, black is here and now 2) both look spectacular, and I plan to get the white one down the road, I’m still on the list for it 3) if there was a price increase before the white came in, I would cry a little.
After wearing the black for a couple weeks, I do not regret my decision. It looks amazing! Also, I don’t understand how people criticize the legibility of the black dial when it is nearly identical to the 116520 black. I never heard anyone complain about legibility of that model. Funny how that model was more popular over the white back then. Here is a pic I took today. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I would have bought the Daytona and traded it for the white dial version.

That black faced daytona was picked up 15 minutes later. Piece is so hot you should have felt it burn on your wrist. You definitely made the wrong decision on that one.

People who spend $10k on a watch they don’t want, just because it’s “hot” are funny. |

Well if you like white and blue better than black, you did. For me it would be no choice, black would be my first choice everyday.

I would have had to buy the Daytona. I agree the blue SkyD is probably worth the wait though!!

It’s the right choose - if you didn’t want the black dial in the Daytona and Sky-D, then it’s the right decision.
I honestly admire you honestly and not getting into the Reseller part which is absurd at the moment. Cheers for you mate!!! |

Right choice as the AD will come through having offered these. Well done for not giving in!

Wait for what you want. When you're spending north of 10k on a watch, seems really silly to not get exactly what you want.

It seems passing is the obvious choice if they aren't your first choice colors, the AD is a buddy who will get you what you want, and AD would be unhappy if you flipped it. Easy choice to me (assuming you read the whole thread).

Nothing wrong with passing on a watch you don't want. And kudos for not buying that Daytona with the sole plan of flipping it.

I didn't know the Daytona came in blue because you obviously want the white Sky Dweller!
