I have my own scars regarding romance. To me personally, there are things or people for that matter, far greater than a collection of watches. Relationships matter...
A watch only consists of movements, crystals and crowns, probably important to other people. But, a watch to me is only a piece of expensive metal that tells time. A piece of jewelry. Emotions are different. A watch doesn't have feelings. People do. There is no way, I can equate a SS Daytona from a real human being. In my opinion, you are doing the right thing. As I said, relationships matter. However, you are the only one, who could resolve the issue/issues. My two cents. |

I have to add here that we had a major bust up and i should have stopped the argument and listened to what she wanted, then maybe i would not find my self in the position i currently am.
the reason for selling the watches is to commit to her that i am in it for the duration and the money raised from the watches will demonstrate to her that i want us to be someway financially secure. Investing in our future relation ship. I take n board many of the comments, and would still keep a few especially my daytona ss with the white gold (black colour) dial and the deep sea of course. I cannot thank all the trf members that have posted enough for the kind words and the amount of views the post has received. will keep you updated on the watches and of course my GF situation, Just goning to give her some space for a while. kindest regards |

Never look to the ground as greatness comes to those who look to the future.
Tough times ahead for you my man but with pain comes clarity. Hope everything works out for you both.

I posted this same remark in Stephens thread but...
There does come a time when you realize that half of your s#*t is better than ALL OF HERS. Don't mean to be cynical...but sometimes you gotta move on. To quote George Bernard Shaw: "The reasonable man adapts himself to his world, the unreasonable man adapts his world to himself. Therefore change is driven by the unreasonable man." |

Hide them in a box. Tell her you sold them all. Tell me what she said.

All relationships are a balancing act, I wish you luck. I'm the last person who should pass on romantic advice but I can tell you I base my loyalty and my dedication on how I'm treated and how I'm made to feel. I make mistakes, but I try to be fair and objective about how I treat others. If apologies are needed I offer them. But I'll never subvert my passions or alter my nature to buy time or delay the inevitable. Easy for me to say this I don't know your story Marke, but since you seem to feel a yard sale will help you get her back I have to assume there was either an ultimatum or some kind of a directive. That's fine as long as long as its mutual but don't allow yourself to be brow-beaten just to keep the peace. It has to be a two way street. We do make sacrifices for the ones we love, however if it is love then we should be given the benefit of the doubt by our partners and allowed by them to do what makes us happy.

Marke, My very best wishes for you. I know how painful this can be. I don't claim to have a lot of wisdom but, one thing comes to mind in my life. Thankfully, 95% of the things I worry about do not come to pass. I can do a lot of worrying...
Relationships are important - focus on that. I believe that the relationships we make are our most valuable assets. The watches can be replaced. Even some of your special pieces. So, set that aside and good luck. I sincerely wish you the best.

Very sad to hear this.
My theory is if things have reached this point, selling the watches wont help. Get a new girl and keep the watches. After 3 weeks you will be set. If she does this again when you are married, she will take you to the cleaners. Yes, I am cynical. Watches and Cars never get headaches and are cheaper than divorces. If women have problems with this, then they should look for monks!! Best to you in making ammends and continuing a happy and long relationship.

Yes I think you need to act carefully too.
One of my best mates was my neighbour, we had lots of good chats about cars, watches and things in life general. Then all of a sudden his girl friend who owns the house kicked him out. After talking to her, nothing really awful had happened. He would have sold cars and watches just to stay. Presents arrived and she turned them away. Yes, short term big pain but he is picking himself up now. Just think carefully Marke. PeterT |

Sorry to hear about your news Marke, but I do think you need to let the dust settle before you make any decision! On a more upbeat note, I sincerely hope that you manage to sort things out with your wife.
All the best to you! Mark. |

Let's not turn this into a For Sale thread though.:
That's the other section.
