Ego gratification.
It's not necessarily a bad thing as long as perspective is maintained. Besides, since I have a Rolex, it can't be a bad thing...can it? Since Rolex makes a great - if somewhat costly - product, we believe attaining and having one makes us a little bit better, a little better looking, a little bit cooler, a little bit smarter, etc. In short, we buy into the that ineffable "something" promised to us by the advertiser. It's consumerism and capitalism at it's "best." May we be mindful of the lesson. |

As a 6 year old I was fascinated with watches and always had to have one on me. Looking back 30 years at photos I’m always seen wearing a watch.
When I was 13 I found an air king that my grandfather bought my old man when he finished school. My father never wore it so I wore it since that day. It lasted through high school and university as a daily wearer through thick and thin, until I dropped it one too many times and it stopped working. A few years later I sent it in for a refurb. Still use it but not as often today. It has a few friends but it’s still the most nostalgic piece. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
