Honestly no idea what Rolex’s decision making process was with this one. One thing is for sure, this may go down as one of the shortest production runs ever. Of course I may be wrong so I defer to more knowledgeable Rolex experts out there. |

Well guys, I have some bad news to report as well.
My AD has verified the info. This watch has been discontinued, and my order has been cancelled. It had been placed in the portal and is now gone. Disappointed is a major understatement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Might be worth checking out one of the trusted dealers on the forums? |

Trust me I have been looking at TS but currency and taxes inflate the listed USD price by 48%.

Congrats on the move to get one! I think it is a really handsome watch. Been thinking about it for a while. I personally liked the black dial, but I haven't seen the blue dial version yet.

I stand corrected. I am shocked Rolex would discontinue a watch after just releasing it with the new dial and movement. It was riding on the coat tails of the white hot SS BLRO, I thought this new iteration of the WG "Pepsi" with oyster bracelet would be around for a very long time. I'm completely confused on this move by Rolex. Sorry Craig for the bad news. I would continue looking on the secondary market for the right watch/deal, sooner than later if you really want it, before it's officially announced and removed the website.

thats the only reason im not convinced its totally gone. And yes, i agree it has a strong opening act in the SS version to boost its profile and further increase its demand. Finally the PM value judgment makes sense. Almost the same watch on the secondary market selling for a similar price as a PM one available at an AD.

The "new" version had the old movement?? Still a surprising move, the only scenario that makes sense is Rolex unloading previous stock with new dials, which wasn't a big seller to begin with. This means another version will likely be released with the new movement. The question is - what configuration will it be in? We have already had white and blue dials and oyster, jubilee. Will they just re-release the current blue dial with the newer movement? Maybe OP should wait for the re-release.

If you are lucky enough to own one of these with the blue dial - hold on to it.

I understand this comment for sure BUT the company is openly offering to change unsold models to the blue dial. Do you think that having blue written on the card is enough to have mkt value skyrocket eventually?

Also, I got a call from a dealer yesterday saying the blue dial GMT was being "phased out." Who knows what that really means but, assuming it is true, I wonder whether it might impact how long a dial switch will be available as an option. And as to the question about whether having "blue dial" on the warranty card is enough to have the value skyrocket? Your guess is as good as anyones but I can already see the adverts for "factory blue dial" examples, which I suspect would matter to pure collectors. |

I will wager there are at least 5 more posts congratulating the OP even though he followed up with a post saying the order is officially cancelled.
And we don't even need to count the ones already posted.... lets all count together. |

Ordered the 116719BLRO this week
Quote:
I had an AD offer the switch on a long sitting piece this week. I said I didn’t want a show model banged up from lookey lous and they said that’s no worry, when sent away for switch they will make sure 100% perfect. I didn’t believe them. Also, not paying msrp so there’s that. And I think Dr Toms is away currently for the dial change. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Well, this thread took an interesting turn, albeit a sad one for the OP.
Craig, hope it all works out for you, and you are able to source the watch. |

What is also super curious about this case is that some markets in the world found out the news before others. We are talking a delay of several weeks between ADs about hearing the official word.
I think this is a very strong move from Rolex. It'll be a piece that won't go up instantly but should mature over time. It's reflects well on them. However if like with the new deepsea they just reintroduce it, then the value for the old movement will go up but albeit much slower. Think Tudor black bay old and new movement scenario. I think having a hard to get white gold model is great. Regarding dial swaps, if the piece is discontinued then they shouldn't allow anymore dial swaps from black To blue. This means there was (give or take) a four month window where customers could change their dials. Given the popularity of the WG Pepsi and the time frame, I doubt enough customers changed their dial to make a difference. Further, in some markets you can't dial swap until the model has been out for one year (Rolex policy), although immnot quite sure why this rule is not uniform... |

I think it will be re-introduced with the updated movement, the logo at 6 and maybe a blue sunburst dial.

So the black dial one is discontinued and replaced with the new blue one?
