I have become a convert to Tudor. Have had my BB GMT for two months now, and it’s getting all the wrist time (even with a BLRO as competition).

Owning a Tudor is making me rethink my little collection ...

On YouTube, Watchfinder had a video cautioning watch buyers to beware of situations to avoid before purchasing. The last tip; don't settle for something because you can afford it now. Save for the piece you REALLY want. They showed a picture of a Tudor.

I love the Mercedes hands of a Rolex, but the hands on a Tudor with the huge square/diamonds are just ugly.

I agree. Those hands helped push me to a Rolex Submariner instead of a Tudor Submariner back in 1970. Thank you Rolex for the ugly hands.

Agreed. And Omega keeps doubling down on the overwroughtness. The current ATs make the first 8500 teak concept dials look staid. And don't even get me started on the new Seamaster divers.

I don’t have a Tudor but am seriously considering adding it to my collection!
To me it’s like Toyota and Lexus. You bet better quality control and fine details in addition to the name but that come with a BIG premium in price difference between Rolex and Tudor
I’m actually considering a ss double date on strap. A watch not addressed by rolex at all

I guess, but then you also have those who think they know what they want and buy Rolex, but then end up with Tudor.

If I were buying today, I'd look at old Rolex, old Tudor and new Tudor all over new Rolex. There are few current Rolex watches in the catalog that I like.

They're not meant to be pretty, they're meant to be more legible underwater (with French navy diver design input in the 1960s) than those dinky Mercedes hands, which are a 1930s Rolex design first used on dress watches.

I think the Rolex hands are also a tad too thin.

Agreed. I never considered my Sub/Exp II hands to be all that legible. I think the Snowflake hands are both easily readable and cool looking. I think this is a great looking and functional watch (not mine.)

I too disliked the snowflake hands and found them to be fugly when I saw Tudor watches at an AD for the first time.

But what I have discovered, is that I start to appreciate the watches that I originally disliked and the design elements that looked awkward, when I learn more about their history and the purpose behind the design.

For example I disliked the longer date window on IWC chronograph watch, with opening wide enough to show 3 dates in the window. I thought it was just for fashion and to make the dial more busy, so I disliked it. Then in some review somewhere I read that is done on purpose, so that when the minute hand is covering the date window, one can determine what date it is by seeing the numbers before/after. That made the whole thing acceptable to me. Now I actually like it.

That's interesting. I hadn't heard that, but it makes sense. IWC has since ditched it, though, so...who knows?

I have only owned Rolex. I have been so intrigued by the Pelagos and the look of it. I really like the non reflective crystal and the bezel. I just can’t get over the light weight of the titanium and the amount of scratches it gets.

The light weight is a feature! I don't own one, but a guy in my car club has one, and I think it's the best looking modern dive watch. If they made a 39mm model of that, I'd be very tempted.

Even with the complete reprinting of War and Peace on the dial?

True. I forgot how busy the newer one is. The ETA version was better looking, both in terms of the dial printing and the date window index.

For sure.

I consider my Casio as part of my "collection". Not that you asked which is "better", as the Rolex is IMHO probably better built, but they are two different styles. I could have purchased a maxi case Sub but choose to go with the simpler subdued style of the BB58. It just fits my jeans and T shirt lifestyle a bit more at this time in my life. Buy whatever makes you smile!

I would consider one of the vintage Tudors but not any of the modern examples.
