Another example of the things dealers can do when the market is strong.

Its already changing. The hype has died down quite considerably from 6-12 months ago. SS watches are sitting longer and longer and there has been quite some price drops in hot pieces of late.

I had a good long chat with a gray dealer today. He said the craze is slowing a lot he has noticed over the last 3 months and he expects it to slow more. Hence you see why BLROs, CHNRs and SS SkyDs are dropping in price.

He thinks it also has a lot related to people just getting pissed off with the whole situation and the way Rolex has lost control of their ADs and the shonky business practices as well.

Greed and people trying to make the most of the frenzy is causing ADs to do stupid things like this. He reckons where he is located 90% of sales for highly sought after models is going to individual flippers and big buyer Grays. Hardly anything is getting sold to legitimate collectors and watch enthusiasts. Everyone just wants to make a killing while its stupid crazy which wont last much longer.

The price he is offering for SS watches is quite alot lower now than 6-12 months ago that he gets from flippers.

Similar experience at largest AD chain in Italy. When calling other shops, rep mentioned, "An American is looking for..."

The situation couldn't be more obvious.

Just as bad, friend was passing an airport AD a couple months ago and they had a GMT BLNR but wouldn't sell to him unless he bought another €10k watch as well...
