Pretty AD dependent. Can't hurt to strike up some conversation and show you're genuinely interested in the watch for yourself. I can say the chances of you receiving it within a year is low though if you live near any sort of large population. Good luck.

Generally speaking, of course... 'AD LISTS" are BS.

Definitely plan on getting more than one timepiece and/or jewelry at an AD that you've settled on.

If it was me, I'd be prepared to wait another six months (to a total of 2 years) and call it quits after that which translates into buying something else as I'm not willing to pay gray prices on super hot models. Quite a few alternatives out there: Speedy and Zenith Chronomaster to name a couple.

Rolex knows what they're doing. The gold discounts have dried up, now leaving the spread upwards to 10k now. Of course, you could shop around and find a nice pre-owned one for less, but still, as was pointed out earlier, some just prefer steel to gold.

I don稚 think it would be impossible but depending on the market where you live, your chances may be better or worse. Large metropolitan area with lots of money floating around would lessen the likelihood you get the call. A smaller town where you can drop in and get to know the owner and salespeople and they get to know you is a better bet in my opinion.

Yes, because we're in a bubble. Like all bubbles, they pop. When that happens, the hot watches will be available.

Probably not...but who knows! If this is the watch for you Grey may be your best bet. As someone else alluded to if you wait it out another 10 years the prices may have gone up to the point you could have bought a Grey one now and had the watch to enjoy the last 10 years.

Would a 116250 w the steel bezel scratch the itch for a while? They they too are marked up, yet the fact they are discontinued makes it more palatable. I find the all steel look very elegant esp w the black dial.

Lets think positively. OK - I am here in the UK, but I had zero purchase history with my large city centre AD last summer. Asked if they could get me a new ceramic date sub 116610LN. AD said you may have to wait a month or two - but - hey presto - got the call in December last year! Before anyone tells me - I know the Daytona is even more highly desired, but keep dropping in to your AD (I have a BLNR on request at the moment). I left a big box of chocolates for them last week. Keep in touch - what have you got to lose? - you never can tell.

If you don't have the cash to drop yet then the wait can be a blessing in disguise. I just bought my wife a rolex and a Heuer autavia so my watch cash has taken a beating. I'm on the list for a white Daytona patiently refilling the bank. If I happen to get all the way to 13 g's before my name is called I can start playing with the idea of pulling the rest of the cash from another account and going grey market, or looking for a replacement. Either way I've got two nice watches now I can enjoy while I'm on the list and saving. So My advice is if you have tons of spare cash to drop, just buy grey market. If you are saving up for the watch, keep saving and keep your goal set. You'll get it one way or another if you really want it.

Totally depends on the AD and how honest they are!
I got my BLNR, SD43, and skyD (White) from three different ADs with no history! And the AD from whom I bought for over $100,000 over the last year alone couldn稚 deliver!!! Go figure!!

Wanted to share that I decided to pull the trigger this past weekend by buying from briboxer. It was a flawless transaction and i'm loving the watch. Thanks for the kick in the ass! I'd love to post a pic but I need to have 10 posts before i can do so! I guess having an almost 10 year old account doesn't count...

Sorry, but in a way we're talking about missing the boat here, you could have gotten a SS Daytona much easier 9 years ago. My brother was able to get one SS Daytona from AD without history some 9 years ago after the great recession, I was offered a white SS Daytona from my AD too...Since you have great patience might as well as wait until the next recession

no of course you wont, the sports stars, the celebrities and the captains of industry get them first, they are seen as better adverts for the watch over joe bloggs wearing one.
