Send me your Sub...no senior in HS should have such a watch. I remember how thrilled I was to save & buy a $500 all-analog Citizen dive watch (the first all analog of its kind) back in '94. Plus, I had to pray every morning my POS Mustang would start and I could make it to school. You're sporting probably two of the most reliable objects around - a Honda & Rolex. Punk kid!

One of these bad boys. Not so much driving but more riding. I've been fighting off the ladies ever since.

I grew up on a farm and drove around from the age of 12.I drove my parents Toyota pick-up's,Honda Ballade and a lovely 1976 Chevrolet 4.1 !!

Now imagine a 12 year old in a three-speed auto Chev 4.1,spinning the tyres on the gravel road,in all gears ...with my father going beserk in the passenger seat !!!

I drove a purple dodge neon that belonged to my parents until I got my "own" vehicle, a 92 Dodge Dakota with a 5.2 V8. It later had an electrical issue and almost caught fire. I'd also sneak my dads motorcycle to school every once and a while when I had my M1. Your instantly cool if you ride a motorcycle to school, the girls loved it...

...bicycle...

...I remember...it was a black Schwinn.

...many fishing trips on the old bike!

...many 15 mile rides, through the country, on gravel roads to my grandma's so she and I could go fishing.

...some great memories.

Stan.

Haha, I'll admit the Honda was funded by my parents, but the Sub was solely funded by me.

Sweet. I'm sure 99% of the kids you interact with on a daily basis have no idea what an amazing watch you have...I'm sure the majority of kids at my HS wouldn't have had a clue about such an iconic watch.

Two have noticed. One said "nice" and never spoke another word about it. The other thought it was fake at first but never said anything again after I showed it to him.

Most kids are too busy getting laid or getting high to realize what fine timepieces are. I wonder what they'll do when they realize that the "real world" starts after senior year...

I drove a BMX through most of high school. I graduated from high school at the age of 18, so I only got a car much later. Mostly through high school I caught public transport to and from school.

Upon my HS graduation, my mother went with me to purchase a 1973 Ford Pinto. Green in color. Automatic transmission.

I am so embarrassed to admit this. Now you all know something about me that few know.

In going to college, I tied my Kustom 500 Stereo guitar amplifier to the top of this automobile and went to Dallas. Two speaker enclosures encompassing 6 15 inch speakers (both of them 60 inches in height) traveling 600 miles over the interstates of Texas.

Picture this. The above with a 18 year old boy going to college at UT in a Ford Pinto!

I wish I could go back to those days............

1960 Ford Falcon, 4 dr, 3 on the column, green/white top, black and red plaid pillows in rear deck, wire hubcaps from a Corvair. Hot to trot Senior year I worked at gas station after class and on Sat and had enough money to buy a new 65 Mustang, K code, 289 HiPo, 4 speed. Man, I sure would like to have that one back

Priceless.
I remember driving to Disneyland one year, this green Pinto, that was literally almost dragging the passenger rear on the I-5, passed us at least 10 times. Was priceless too.
This beatup car, no windows, feet hanging out the passenger window, listing to one side, would fly by us. Then I guess they stopped for repairs/gas/beer/ who knows what, but about every 30 minutes, they would pass us again

With parents gas card thrown into the deal as well I'm sure. Wrong, wrong, wrong...whatever happened to HS students driving POS cars and lovin every second of it? It seems lately if kids don't sport a car with $3K rims then they assume they can't be caught dead in said car.

I think there are a lot of important life lessons to be learned by driving a POS during your teens IMO. If anything, it teaches analytical skills and attention to detail when trying to figure out what the latest noise, rattle or bang means & what needs to be done to get from point A to B (not to mention it definitely makes you appreciate A/C once you can finally afford to buy a car so equipped).

OK, I realize I'm 32 going on 65 from the way I'm talking...I'm now stepping off the soapbox. Cheers.

Actually I pay for gas and insurance and i paid for the wheels. and half of the car payment every month. I respect your opinion but I would appreciate if folks didnt make assumptions about my life.

To be honest...my finger pointing is not aimed at the young man in question...we all know what we would have said if given this choice in HS.

My parents could have afforded to buy me pretty much any car I wanted, but told me on my 13th B-day if I wanted a car in 3 yrs, it was up to me to work & save for one. That $4K rusty Mustang I bought at 15 was one of the proudest moments of my young life and I'm glad my parents pushed me.

At the time I didn't realize how much that experience would shape my outlook on life, but looking back I now realize how great it was. No doubt I plan to do the exact same things with my kids someday. Oh crap, I was sure I got rid of that soapbox!
