Thanks for the kind words!

Wesley Crusher has been in my m5. I still can’t believe you sold yours, Wes! But, I get it!

I was surprised he sold his too.

But of course, I too, can relate.

Just today someone flew up behind me so I moved into the right lane. They pulled up next to me and just stared at it and then fell back behind me again.

It’s literally non stop.

But again, not looking for speed so much. Just a cruiser. Something I can take the top down in.

Doesn’t matter tho. Keeping the GTS. For now anyway.
Surprising. I would assume that most people would see the Mercedes logo and not think twice. Of course, I snap my neck whenever I see a GTS, but it’s because I am forever in love with the old SLs and the new GTS shares so much of the same design language. I guess most others love the car as much as I do!

Woody’s car is an absolute hoot. Actually, after being in a car like that, you realize how disappointing the new BMWs are, LOL! I’ll just stop right there. My fingers are already burning... they’re ready to type a novel about how great the E60 M5 is compared to the new generation, but you’ve all heard me whine before so I’ll spare you.

Don’t remind me! Really, I am still bummed about it. With my work situation and how I’m spending my weekends, I just wasn’t driving it and I can’t afford to sit on something if it’s not going to be used.

One day, when the time is right, I’d like to get into another. Maybe an E60, maybe an E39. They are just so special.

I think you bring up an exceptional point. I would think similarly about the logo. In fact, I do.

But, I think the design is just so relatively unique and a bit of a throwback for sure. I can’t say definitely. But it’s nuts. Literally every time I’m out.

Interesting point tho. My wife went with me today. On the way she says, no black. It won’t be different enough from this. Not enough curb appeal to make the switch.

When we got there and she saw the black, she admitted she was wrong. Immediately. Which almost never happens. The Ferraris lines just stand out. It’s a completely different level.

Getting a little confuse here. Is your car a 911 GTS or the MB GTS?
MB GTS, Is plenty amazing. I drove it on road Atlanta. What a beast. But if what you want is a cab and the car is paid off, it should make a hefty dent as down payment

Ferraris do have such symphonic engine noises.

I'm glad this thread still has life. Just the other day while driving around Laurel Heights (way more exclusive than Pac Heights) for those in the know... I saw a few Ferrari's in the AM and kept thinking... man... can I get one? Thanks, Seth. You're going to definitely get me in trouble. A car I've ignored for pretty much all my years has now become an absolute obsession. Argh.

I’ve got the AMG GTS. Been thinking a lot though about a Targa 4 GTS after a few conversations with fastmd (Tage). I just want the ability to have some open top driving and I do love the look of those. And that would be a great all year driver that looks and sounds super. Shockingly hard to find tho.

My wife however is still pushing hard for the Ferrari 458. A big dent from the GTS as a down payment for sure. I’m sorely tempted.

But I can relate to the obsession.

I have an old Cayman 981 GTS, manual (2014).

Base 911 flat-six 3.4L (detuned to 340 BHP) in a two-seat Cayman = big fun. Not the fastest thing ever, but plenty fast for public roads. Chassis very friendly, brakes outstanding, profile quite low, and onlookers like it.

The 458 is one of my all time favorite cars, just fantastic.

At one point this was my only car for a year, in Jersey lol. Although not quite an “exotic” to many it’s super low, loud, not very comfy but my god does it sound amazing at 9,000 RPM! Cars are meant to be driven and not just for sighting laps, I’ve taken the GT3 on road trips, overnight stays, etc.

I then added this to the stable last fall and while it’s more subdued and comfy for the everyday it’s definitely faster than the GT3 in a straight line lol.

Good luck with what you decide, either way you will have an awesome beast in the garage.

Nice rides. Appreciate the share. Love the color of that Porsche.

Here’s my most current thought process. Granted, it changes like the wind, but here goes:

Option A
Spend $40,000 on down payment
Trade my awesome car
Pick up a payment of approximately $1,500
Get dreamcar Ferrari 458

Or

Option B
Spend nothing
Keep my awesome car
Have no debt
Keep dreaming about Ferrari 458

Seems like an easy call. I’m typically pretty responsible. But I just keep thinking I’ve got this one life to live.

^^^

I should add that if I do this, I’m pulling from money set aside for a Patek 5164.

I won’t pass that up when it arrives. So I’ll need to figure that piece out.

Don’t think I can do this move. Not until I save up. It goes against all the financial guidelines I set for myself nearly 20 years ago.

Cars like this are anything but responsible. They’re an emotional purchase. How long have you had the amg gts? Use time as justification to treat yourself? Lol

It’s to my understanding that you also got yourself a new place. A new ride will be the best house gift.

I do like the targas but i would pick a california over that.

Get the Ferrari. Live for today.

To find the right Ferrari with the right spec is hard! It can take months on end for the right one to show up with the right color combo, miles, option list, service records, price etc...

I think you should pull the trigger if the right F car is looking at you in the face.

My F12 search has taken a lot longer then I expected...

Ferrari would be sick but you have a really really nice ride currently and just spent on the sweet new place. Plus the market is a bit wobbly right now.

Rent a mustang base model from enterprise for a week. Drive it daily and leave your gts at home. Then when you get back in your gts the magic will be back. Trust me lol

I couldn't care less of what people call my Viper. Some people call it a sports car, others a supercar.
I call it my car.
And it's just a car, that just happens to be my dream car.

Who gives a rats ass of what people or magazines classifies it as?

Though a car should be driven. A Ferrari, GTR or anything with paddle shifters is just a TV game. Not really much to it than floor it and blip som buttons.
I love autos myself. But they are for daily drivers.
If I want to feel like I'm in a beast, a Ferrari or anything similar would not ever give me that satisfaction. Especially when you go kamikaze shifting a stick, WOT no lift, at any given gear or speed. That is fun. Battling it like hell with feather light flywheel is fantastic fun.
And getting that heel-toe downshift buttersmooth and perfect makes you so warm and fuzzy inside.

Btw, nearly pulled the trigger on the 458 today. I was close.

Then I asked to confirm the warranty details. And I learned it was 5k a year as it was out of warranty.

And I finally have to admit to myself that I just can’t actually afford this car. Maybe someday.

Not today.

Spend some time on FCHAT. There are a lot of things you need to be aware of before you can intelligently evaluate a Ferrari.
