Not only is the Kermit the coolest Rolex ever - true understatement and pure tradition! The fat four models are the hottest watches for any Rolex collector - the Y serial will for ever be in highest demand and already today 30K are easy paid for a NOS with stickers and papers! Get it - or i get it ;-)

I guess it depends whether you want to keep it unworn with stickers? In that case, yes, the price is 'good'. If you're going to peel them off and wear it then you may as well buy used and save yourself some money

2053??!!
Sounds like you want to buy it as an investment!
There are a lot of mutual funds and stocks that will yield better! I never buy my watches as investment! I buy them because I like them and want to wear them!
See if that is worth $20k for you!

I paid $5980.81 on 11/28/07 from Ben Bridge. It’s an “M” serial number. Funny how the range in cost was so different only 10 years ago.

Is the 50th Anniversary Kermit a good buy?

So happy I got d serial in September 2005 from an AD for £2650. Those were the days...

It's an absolutely terrible purchase for that reason. Based on the rule of 72, If you invest at a 7 percent return, you will double your money every 10.2 years. Now, a 7% rate of return is absolutely terrible, but lets stick with it. That means that your money would STILL double three times by that date. So, you'd have a guaranteed $60k vs. whatever the Kermit might do.

A more realistic estimate is to double your money every 7.5-8 years. (About 10% return), in that case, you'd quadruple your money. $60k profit guaranteed. You'd be a fool to turn that down vs. speculate on the Kermit.

Something not quite right here. I believe Kermits started only at the end of the Y serial #s sometime late 2003.

I've historically got 11% per year, so it's been very real for me. I'm diversified, so it's not any crazy day trading or speculation. Most people say you can get 8-9% per year pretty easily.

This is truly an unspeakable topic.

It might go over better if you replaced "investment" with "speculation".

But, to be honest, it would be better to post topics regarding:

1) Your Rolex photographed with your favorite kite.

2) Your Rolex photographed with bespoke umbrellas

3) Is it safe to wear your Rolex when using a stapler?

4) The Rolex AD wouldn't pour the diet coke into a chilled glass for me....so they are mean and nasty

In other words stay away from "investment" posts at all costs. There are many professional and seasoned private investors on this forum and this topic always chaps their hide..

There’s currently 200 Kermits available on Chrono24. The $30k ones aren’t going anywhere.

Can I add , I'm not saying it's not worth the money , it's more is it worth the value to you . If you will get pleasure out of owning it then buy it , whether you wear it or not is a very personal experience . It will be your watch & do with it as you will . I bought mine for my 50th & could not be happier with it & wear it often as I associate with that milestone in my life . Good luck with whatever choice you make

If the watch is as you described, yes it is a good buy. I'd buy it!

I sold mine a couple of years ago, I regretted it every day!. I managed to find a 2008 model (my daughters birth year) in great condition for a really good price, granted there was no box and papers but the seller is very reputable and the watch checked out. I will never let this one go so I have no need for an expired warranty card etc. Buy it to love and wear the hell out of it or step aside and let someone buy it who will. Invest your money in bricks and mortar

Y series with stickers for 20k, that is an excellent price. I would buy it straightaway. F series go nowadays already for that price.
