I upgraded to a Cartier love ring at some point from my original platinum band. My original band was custom - plain with a beaded edge. I have never thought about a men's band with diamonds, but I have to admit that i really like the larger patek calatrava ring. Very unique but not sure I could pull off the diamonds. Now that I'm 50 and married 20 years, maybe? Probably not. If that band didnt have diamonds I would buy it today.

Have views changed about men's bands with diamonds?

Ja-Bel is a company worth checking out. Maybe hard to find but well worth the search.

Surprised nobody offered up the old chestnut about the "three rings of marriage".

A side benefit is that if you should ever lose possession of the ring unexpectedly, it can be readily replaced.........
That's actually not accurate. Our diamond broker and jewelry designer in Chicago, who is from South Africa and provides stones to everyone big and small, including Tiffany, said at resale the spot price and scrap price of the metal is used to determine what a piece is worth. Designer plays 0% role in this part of the process at liquidation, sadly. It's another kick in the teeth after the pain of divorce. At that point, gold is gold and platinum is platinum.

Bottom line - buy what you want. Don't let resale value cloud your judgment.

Um I love my wife but why are you getting married? Don’t you like the other 62.4% of your stuff?

"The solidity of the Jewish ring is a symbol of the commitment to the marriage, making it whole and eternal. Unlike non-Jewish wedding ceremonies, only one ring is required to meet the Jewish wedding laws. That ring must be the property of the groom at the time of the wedding and is given to the bride."

"Jewish tradition calls for the groom to present the bride with an unpierced metal band as a symbol of his promise of marriage to her. When doing so, he must recite the Jewish marriage formula in Hebrew. She must accept it, but is not legally bound to utter any words or do anything other than place it on her finger."

"Jewish tradition prohibits the ring to be decorated with gems or stones. It should also be solid all around with nothing cut all the way through the ring."

Trivia from a Jew....

I feel wedding bands should be timeless and something that should never come off. This can be a sensitive subject so will provide my personal view- my grandfather, father and I all wear a middle thickness gold band. Boring, maybe. However, it’s been the standard for decades and while it isn’t the trendy option, you also will never have to cringe when styles inevitably change. This is also a regional thing- my opinions are likely influenced on the region in which grew up.

Depends what one does for a living , and hobbies and how much he values his finger . Seldom wore mine at work and not at all for most of my married life after it got caught ( again ) and caused the knuckle swell,up and never went back to normal .

First off - some personal news to share with my lovely TRF family - I am getting married this May! Regarding watches - I actually picked up a BLNR right when we got engaged last March to commemorate popping the question. Since then I was lucky enough to add my long-awaited white DaytonaC to the collection. I really want an AP 15400 blue dial for the big day, but that is looking like less and less of a reality (wedding costs, waitlists / the new 15500).

Anyway - onto the more important stuff. We're in full swing on wedding planning right now and my fiancée brought up the wedding bands this past weekend. For her's I told her "whatever you want, sweetheart" and Titanium Rings For Men. I spent plenty of time (and money!) custom designing an engagement ring for her with my jeweler. For the actual wedding band, I am selfishly letting her just go with whatever she wants to remove that creative burden.

That brings things to me...I actually have no idea what I want. My father has a thick, smooth yellow gold band (similar to and I suppose in the back of my end I just naturally assumed I'd always do something similar. Now that it's actually time to start deciding though I am not so sure what I want.

I thought it would be fun (and constructive) to get some thoughts from the community that I value a lot. Anything from guys who have just recently been married and gone through this to some of the older/more experienced voices would be greatly appreciated. Ideas, websites (to get some creative ideas), and anything else is welcomed here because I am currently a blank slate on what I want.

At this point I am still undecided even on material color (WG, YG, platinum). Stainless steel watches tend to get the majority of the time on my wrist and I can't see that changing any time soon (for what it's worth). I suppose that is a bit irrelevant though because I was thought a man's wedding band was always the exception to matching metals (e.g., I try to match cufflinks to belt-buckle colors, or belt-buckle to shoe-buckle colors, but your ring is your ring).

Thanks in advance! P.S. any boutique/AD contacts for a blue AP would be a more than gracious wedding gift (soon-to-be-wife would likely disagree)
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! It's an exciting time, and I'm glad to hear that you're considering different options for your wedding band. Here are a few considerations and suggestions to help you choose the perfect wedding band:

Material: Since you mentioned stainless steel watches are a preference and you're open to different metal colors, you have several options. Yellow gold, white gold, platinum, and even alternative metals like titanium or tungsten are popular choices. Consider factors such as durability, maintenance, and personal style when selecting the material.

Style: Wedding bands come in various styles, from classic plain bands to more intricate designs. You can choose a simple and timeless band or opt for something more unique, like a band with engraved patterns, textured finishes, or mixed metals. Explore different designs and styles to see what resonates with your taste.

Width and Thickness: The width and thickness of the band can influence its overall appearance. You can go for a traditional width or choose a wider band for a bolder look. Consider how the band will complement your hand size and shape.

Comfort Fit: It's essential to prioritize comfort since you'll be wearing your wedding band every day. Consider a comfort fit band, which has a slightly rounded interior for a more comfortable and ergonomic fit.

Customization: If you want a truly unique wedding band, you can consider customizing it with engravings, initials, or special symbols that hold personal meaning to you and your partner.

Inspiration: To get some creative ideas, you can explore websites, jewelry stores, or even social media platforms like Pinterest or Instagram. Look for wedding band styles that catch your eye or resonate with your personal style.

Remember, choosing a wedding band is a personal decision, and it should reflect your individual taste and preferences. Take your time, try on different styles, and discuss options with your jeweler. They can provide valuable insights and help guide you through the process of selecting the perfect wedding band.

As for AP boutique/AD contacts for a blue AP, unfortunately, as an AI language model, I don't have access to specific contact information or the ability to facilitate such requests. It's best to reach out to authorized dealers or boutiques directly to inquire about availability and options.

Wishing you a wonderful wedding day and a lifetime of happiness together!

Basic 14 or 18k white gold ring, no name brand. Cheap and effective. If it gets lost, which it could, it is easily replaced. It gets dinged up, no big deal. It will eventually fade a bit into a yellowish color but it’s great because it goes with a stainless watch or the yellow gold one too.
Not saying to cheap out though…Put the money into the wife’s ring.
