So a further update. Hulk gone, didn’t like the maxi case on my wrist. So replaced with a Blancpain Barakuda...new watch box to be purchased soon.

Interesting decision, I went the other way I kept my LVC and sold my FF, the bezel was just a bit too bulbous on my wrist and looks rather the same in your box next to the others, wrist shot looks good tho.

Yes, I liked the look of the lvc and it was certainly different to the rest of my collection. But unfortunately for some reason it was quite uncomfortable for me to wear, compared to my other watches. I reflected on this a bit but decided that comfort was a key factor for me and so it went.

Was your FF 45mm or 40mm? The Barakuda being 40mm fits me well.

Great choice. I got rid of my LVc as well after acquiring my Milspec.

Nice move

the blancpain is a great choice, fits the collection. I would still consider moving the aquanut and getting the newer panda syle roc or vc overseas chrono

If just getting rid of one, the Steel AP would be my vote.

But, I would consider ditching the VC and adding a white gold Yachtmaster on OF. That way you’d have two AP,
two Patek, and two Rolex, each with one metal and one rubber. Would be a great collection with nice symmetry.

Excellent! That will soon become a 16 watch box! I speak from experience, my 15 watch box is already full and I was thinking of consolidating by selling a few pieces. A few months have gone by and I now have 17 watches

Very nice collection similar to mine which is pretty diverse, my favourite is the VC - beautiful classy timepiece.

I thought you might consider getting a new six capacity watch box but eight is even better! I think selling the Royal Oak Chronograph was a good choice, but I'm sorry to see the Barakuda go, as that's a really nice watch. I'm not really a fan of fauxtina but it works on the Barakuda watch, although they should have made the bezel like the original. I also really like your new addition of the Omega 321, which can easily stand toe to toe with the Daytona, and I do think that "lower priced" watches like the Tudor BB 58 and the Omega Seamaster have a place in the collection, although I would have personally kept the Blancpain and not purchased the Seamaster. Regardless, your collection was great to begin with and is great now, albeit with two more watches!

I currently have too many watches and yet I keep adding more but I do think a collection in the 6-12 range is a perfect balance, as it allows for good diversity and yet isn't overwhelming.

Thank you. The Barakuda was nice, but just seemed a bit small even for me, also the bezel was slightly floppy when I twisted it, which put me off. A shame because on paper I really liked the sound of it.

The Omega 321 is my most recent acquisition and I'm very impressed, I wanted a speedmaster and I think this is the perfect one for me, nice to have a view of the movement as well.

Re the BB58 and Seamaster, the seamaster was actually my first watch purchase around 15 years ago and is a sort of "beater". I didn't include it on my first posts as in my opinion, it just doesn't really feel part of my collection (and it didn't fit!). But as there was a space in the new box I included it. It has a lot of sentimential value (I wore it at both my daughters births), so won't be going anywhere. The BB58 was a bit of an impulse purchase as a cheaper watch that I can enjoy going out with it on (and sort of filled the Barakuda gap), without worrying too much about dinking it etc. You will notice that the top row of watches is a little different to the bottom row! :)

I've also been disappointed by the Blancpain bezels (Rolex really does have the best bezel action) and I've never tried the 40.3mm but I've got the Hodinkee one incoming so we'll see how that goes.

The Seamaster is a great watch and was my first nice watch as well, although I sold it a number of years ago. If it has sentimental value, then that's a bonus and something you should never sell.

I almost bought a Black Bay 58 this weekend and it was the first time I've seen one in the flesh, but I resisted because I'm trying to reduce, not accumulate. If it had been a blue one, however, it probably would have gone home with me. Enjoy your great collection!

The Aquanaut and RG AP both could go and you will have an empty spot to fill with something new and exciting!

Aquanaut would be hard to buy back. I vote to sell one of the APs. I always liked the idea of leasing a watch. Easier than flipping.

It’s an amazing collection!

Personally, if I was going to make any changes, I’d swap the steel aquanaut for a yellow gold one and get rid of the AP. Next I’d consider a RO15202 with a blue dial if the budget allows it, alternatively a 15407 if you wanna go completely gung-ho.

I'd let go the Aquanaut, you have the more refined 5711 to cover that watch type.

I’d be okay with the 2 Pateks, the Traditionnelle and the Daytona.

Interesting comments. Thank you.
The aquanaut doesn’t seem to be liked that much (or is seen as too close to the 5711). However for me I see them as quite different watches with the aquanaut being much more casual particularly on the rubber strap. It’s also very comfy and light on the wrist. I’ve decided that both Pateks are staying and as a result I don’t think I’ll be getting another patek.
I really like the gold AP dual time. It’s good on my wrist (much prefer 39mm size to 41mm) and just makes me feel good when I’m wearing it. I’m a bit surprised the AP dual times are relatively unpopular - I think it’s a great watch. Given I’ve got a 5711 I can’t seems getting a 15202 (or even a 15305!!)
I can’t see the VC or the Daytona leaving, I like them both a lot - imo the Daytona is a much nicer watch than the 39mm ROC I used to have - the dial on the ROC made it look bit small and the Daytona bracelet is much more comfortable on my wrist than the ROC.
In the two weeks I’ve had the Omega 321 I’ve been very impressed - great size for me (noticeably thinner than the fois as well) and the bracelet is very silky, reminds me of the 5711. It also provides a nice change to my white Daytona.
The Tudor bb58 is a great day to day watch and gives me a proper diver - I much prefer the size to the lvc I had. But maybe this is the watch that may move on in the future - we will see.

It all depends on how much you use them i just sold a 15300 OR black dial I love the watch but i just didnt wear it. If you are using the AP RG then i would sell the 5167

The watch box has got bigger again :) (hopefully for the last time!!)
For the pic below I’ve grouped them into two, the top row which has been very stable and in fact I’ve had all these watches for around 5 years now. These all appear to be keepers.

However, with the recent rise in value of many of the top row, for the past year or so I’ve been adding watches that are, for me, more comfortable to wear on a daily basis. As you can see, I’ve been enjoying getting some very nice Omega speedmasters and also got my first “independent” watch with the Kurono Toki.

There is one spot left - I need to do some thinking on this. Any suggestions for me to ponder?

(Maybe I should rename the thread “Increasing the collection - which one?” )

I would sell both AP and upgrade to one AP RG ROC 26331OR or 26239OR with full bracelet.

Will need to revisit my dictionary, related to the word “reducing” Love the independent and the snoopy. Would get another “fun” watch with some colour

Low on ideas though

Unsure what the price range would be. But I’d further look at some more affordable independents. Some suggestions:

Habring
Kudoke
Dornbluth
Hentschel

Alternatively, if putting some money back in your pocket isn’t the motivation behind the reduction, you could exchange the AP for a 5524, to give you something a fair bit different to the rest.
Agreed.. Lose the ROC, add 5524.

The key to success was getting the larger watch box. Don’t forget that when you fill the box up, you still have one more to add… the one for your wrist.
