Congrats, beautiful watch,
It seems to me the waiting time for the 15202 is more 5 to 6 months than 18+ months as many rumours say.
I know many people who got it +/- in this kind of delay.
Wear it in good health.

I have some Fortnum's vouchers so I'd rather get ripped off for free there.

I'll skip Claridges for now and go later in the year for dinner when the Eleven Madison Park guys take over their top restaurant, should be amazing with the food and location.

Re: 15202 date setting, don't you just need to wind back to 11:45 and then forward to 12:00 and then back again? That's really not much more effort than a quickset date.

Pretty sure you don't need to wind it around the dial twice to advance the date by a day.

Nice pick up!

Should every serious AP aficionado have a jumbo in their collection?

How is that sarcasm, it's the most pain in the butt way to set the date.

Only if they like the watch, are willing to deal with some drawbacks, and looks good on their wrist.

Not if you have real man sized wrists.

But seriously I like the ROOs from AP and the Nauts from PP as my choices.

No it isn't. The most pain the butt way is to have to wind the watch all the way around a full 24 hours to advance it a day.

I guess you have never heard of quickset date.

We're discussing 'the most pain in the butt way' to set the date, not the easiest.

Of course, quickset date is the easiest. But the 15202 doesn't have it.

Seems a bit odd to me to dismiss a 15202 because it is a bit of a hassle to change the date.

I didn't see any other poster state you need to advance it 24 hours. I'm just agreeing with the OP where he said "PIA to adjust the date". Saying it is almost as easy as a quickset is an incorrect assumption, heck some folks here post about tools just to set it.

So, I went with my girlfriend to the boutique yesterday, fully prepared to say no if it didn't 'sing' to me when I tried it on given the cost...

Needless to say, I tried it on and I was not going to pass it up. It was beautiful, from the blue face colour to the amazing detail of the bracelet and the feel on the wrist.

The lack of a seconds hand and the PIA to adjust the date no longer became a factor and I was even more assured after I tried on the 15400ST which was far too big for my weedy wrists!

So there we have it - they removed the stickers, boxed it all up and I am now a proud owner. Happy to share pics in the next few days if anyone is interested.

Only slight downer was that the AP boutique in Harrods was quite meh. The lady didn't seem to have a clue about anything AP (wasn't even wearing a watch!?) and I wasn't even offered a water / glass of champagne for a £20k+ purchase. I did get some 'congratulations' but it was all pretty muted - maybe they're used to much richer clientele than me who can make these purchases on a whim :)
Haha I know who youare talking about :p Yeah I mean this is a highly demanded piece which I have been searching for a while alongside with the 5726. Congrats! The harrods Ap just became the official boutique on 1st Feb so probably they still need some time to improve their service haha.
I finally decided to go for the 26574 hopefully received soon!

My wrist is about 7.25 inches but I totally fell in love with the jumbo ip. Had to have it so just bought it. Its actually a present for my son who has a similar wrist size. Just taken a few pics - now going to put it away until his birthday in a few months.

It's very nice and I actually do prefer it maybe to the 5711, but not the 5712 and some others. Your son is a lucky monkey, does he know this is coming or is it going to be an epic surprise?

Its going to be a surprise! Both my boys love watches and are always looking to "borrow" mine. They are into the nice stuff but are passionate about understanding movements, history etc. I do not let them borrow anything really expensive and that too only on family or daytime occasions.

The older one is currently 21 and the younger 19. So I bought them both Tags when they turned 16 (very well cared for by them). Bought two SD43s last year and the older one got his as a 21st birthday present. The younger one will receive his when he turns 21 next year.

The Jumbo IP is for the older one who just started his first job a few months ago.

Sounds like he's going to have a great time! Hope you have some good ideas for your other son too.
