Personal choice of course but I am getting rid of my Daytona and getting the Sky. Although great looking in pictures I found the Daytona never looked right on my wrist anyways and worse it is often difficult to read. Therefore I rarely wore it. I do have bigger wrists and larger watches suit me fine. YMMV.
IMO quite over-hyped. But your decision is the only one that counts. |

I would go with the Daytona for a few reasons:
1. I prefer a maximum of 40mm. 2. While the SkyD may be more useful on a daily basis, it's far harder to reset if not kept running. 3. I've always thought Rolex was best with very clever innovations to very simple functions, rather than extensive complications. If I'm going for complications like that, I'm going for JLC/GP (on a "budget") or AP/PP/VC (cost no object). 3b. One of my favorite aspects of a Rolex is its sturdiness, which to me runs contrary to extensive complications. 4. Style is more enduring. BSD (yea, just came up with that nickname for it, and it works...) is a watch of the moment, but Rolex's classic 40mm Pro watches really have withstood the test of time stylistically. 5. Your justification, too many chronographs, is actually counterintuitive (as an observer): Perhaps you have so many chronographs because you in fact have a strong preference for their appearance. |

I know very little about actual watchmaking so I’m probably wrong here, but is an Annual Calendar movement materially more complicated than a chronograph? I always thought chrono movements had lots of parts, were tougher to service, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Both watches are fantastic. Hard to get wrong. Just flip a coin!

The thickness of a watch like the BSD also suggests a greater number of layers to the movement, leading me to assume a correlation with complexity and/or fragility. But, again, these were assumptions... |

White Daytona all day. Nothing else in the Rolex lineup looks like it. The fluted bezel on the skydweller is too reminiscent of the datejust

I like the blue dial, but for some reason the Sky-Dweller just doesn’t do it for me. I want to like it, but I just can’t get there.
Daytona it is. |

Wound up going with the blue sky.
If you have the wrist for it, it's stunning. Probably would look silly on smaller wrists. Side note: I actually just saw a buddy's black daytona, and surprisingly I like it more than the white! Anyways, thank you all for your opinions. |
