If memory serves me correctly, doesn't the yachtmaster have a triplock crown? If so that would certainly make it an extremely competent dive watch.

flipboard_inlineimage_01_a-wateright-crown_1536x800.jpg (picture from Bob's Watches website) The YM would probably sustain much higher water pressure than 10Atm, caseback crush depth must be above 300m/1,000ft. |

Hows the bezel in the long run? Do they oxidate and create a type of patina? Also is this bezel more solid/scratch prone etc than other models like the submariner?

The blue dial is perfect with the finish on the case and bezel. I just wish it (and every other watch in the universe) was available without the date. I know its a Rolex signature but the cyclops just doesn't look right to me. There must be a better way. Besides, when I am out on my yacht I want to relax and not worry about the date.

I’ve had mine for 7 years and no patina on the bezel. It holds up decently but of course it’s going to scratch more easily than a ceramic bezel . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

The platinum bezel doesn't oxidate or develop patina. It can get dirty which is easily cleaned up. Like most metals (bar tungsten carbide), it's more scratch prone than a ceramic bezel, but won't chip or shatter under impact. Also, it can be refinished to like new condition as long as scratches are superficial. Deep dents and gouges will require a new bezel, but platinum is harder than oystersteel.

I think it’s a fantastic reference. It kinda takes a back seat to the sub and the GMT but really it should be in its own category. I look at it as the submariner with class

YM is a solid watch, you won't know until you get a Submariner or Explorer.

This thread has got me seriously contemplating selling my BLNR and buying a Rhodium 40!

Very versatile and perfect for the days I feel like wearing an understated watch. Yet it has a trick up its sleeve, it's quite intricate and comes alive with a glimpse of sunlight.
