I wouldn’t sell mine for a dollar less than $50,000.

True , all it will do is increase profits for Grey dealers that already have the watches in stock

I paid retail, I wear it 3-4 days per week, and I’ve scuffed the heck out of the clasp.

And I don’t worry one bit what any of that does to its value. I love mine. I haven’t seen another watch that fits my smallish wrist any better while looking as good.

Well...except for the BLRO, which I’ll never get. Lightning doesn’t strike twice. But I’ll keep trying. As the AD who sold me the Daytona said, sometimes you just have to ask nicely.

Tim Mosso of WatchBox thinks there’s a serious bubble specifically for the Daytona. His argument makes sense. If you look for a Daytona 116500LN on Chrono24 you get 320 results. That’s insane and it appears to clearly point to a speculative bubble. There is no shortage of this model and eventually the price will begin to fall. No,it probably won’t go down to MSRP but it will most definitely descend from its current astronomical price levels.

HAHAHAH - I really do feel for guys paying $25k+ for this piece.

There is no way in the world that any owners feel this watch is a $25k watch. It doesnt even feel like a $15k watch. LOL

Come on people!! Who the F is paying these prices.

A drop in the ocean for many collectors here judging by their state of collection pics.

A lot of crybabies in here. They bash the watch but if I offer it for MSRP today I bet they’ll be knocking on my door begging for it. Clearly their intention is to bring it down so they can buy it cheap and pump it up afterward.

Not me mate - I've ZERO interest in any SS watch. Only gold for me and it has been that way for years now.

Only speaking the truth and hopefully noobs pay attention to some of the concerns being expressed.

Yeah there are ALOT of big ballers on here - but I would think they are quite smart and astute with their money.

Most people who are worth a bit of coin are actually quite smart unless it purely comes from inheritance.

Yes but watches are not a particularly smart purchase to begin with. Not nowadays at least.

Very realistic point of view! I agree completely that it is a great watch, but it all has gotten very silly. I can name dozens of watches I would buy first with $25,000, let alone more.
The watch is still in production! Goofy

If I had one, I'd be trying to sell it ASAP. It's just not worth that kind of money and I'm sure you'll be able to pick one up in the future for quite the discount over the current inflated grey market price.

There are SS chronographs more expensive at retail than an SS Daytona with a movement that may not be as good.

"BC:Someone told me there is a guy on a forum offering one at $22,000 right now, but I actually think the number will increase with time. Right now, there are so few watches out there, and those that have them seem to be very serious collectors, the types that don't really look to flip no matter what, so the opportunity to buy above retail isn't real yet. Once more watches hit – the second and third waves – and the watches get into the hands of other people, I fully expect to see them offered at CRAZY prices.

JM:I think it's $30K. You kinda can't put a price on owning this watch – it's such a visceral thing. I think people will pay $30,000 for the bragging rights! And social media plays a big part in the story of this watch. Hell you and I were talking about how we'd get this watch up – we're as guilty as anybody."
That's good to know - I can blame him for something else then

Yah. 1% of the filthy rich rather spend their time elsewhere than be on the forum lol. The other 99% are complaining not being able to get their hands to flip the watch.

Deep pockets or not, many collectors hunt for a good deal as well. $30,000 is loony. Heck, $20,000 is loony.

I think a more interesting thought experiment validated by the current reality of the secondary prices would be as follows:
1. Assume that roughly 2,500 pieces were removed from circulation. (This would be my very crude estimate of how many pieces are sitting in inventory by gray dealers based upon various listings that can be scraped from known sites such as chrono, watch patrol, etc)
2. Assume also that new number of new releases were cut in half. (Again, a very rough estimate of how many new models go straight into gray inventory that are held that these currently inflated prices).
3. Lastly, assume that only 6.5 years remained in the current production run and the biggest assumption of all that the next iteration is completely different rather than just a small unnoticeable change but with a new model number like what happened with the Explorer MK1 to MK2. (Based on the life cycle of the 116520 run).

Would the white dial Daytona finally be "worth" 27k-30k then? Would it be worth even more?

Amazingly most of my watch collecting friends are perfectly content with their white 116520, although that could easily be explained as they are chasing down Patek's right now instead of white ceramic daytonas.

I do not see this watch ever trading under 25K on the used market. It clearly can go a lot higher from where it is today.
