Couple of months ago, I sold a DateJust and I ended up regretting it very bad. Now I'm trying to find the exact model just to fall in love again. I guess it's all about the hunt. I don't really know. It's sure is an expensive hobby!

I've done some flipping in the past , but feel I need to hold on to what i have right now. I would like to add a GMT and SeaDweller to the mix.

Heard that!
Mine was a somewhat recent (8 months) fifth anniv. present but I'd had my eye on a SS Sub Date for a long time before then. My wife, of course, knew that which is why she picked it and presented it to me at our anniv. dinner. From the moment I opened that sweet green box and put it on in it has just "felt right" on my wrist, like it has always belonged there. Aside from trying on an Explorer (brother in law) and Datejust (other brother in law) I have not worn, or wanted to, another watch. My wife has been hinting about how much she liked the way the Datejust looked so maybe I get another "surprise" sometime. Whether that happens or not the Sub Date is #1 and I also would make a lot of other sacrifices, if necessary, to keep it.

If I was to lose my daytona I would be devastated!
It is not insured due to my insurance wanting $70 extra premium a month! I would always wear a "ROLEX" no matter what, and it has nothing to do with telling the time!!!

Never sold one of my watches. Hell I even have some old casio’s still. I have an old Helbros 1912 that still runs, and a 1965 GMT I almost sold to get my new IIc but ended up not having to. My first “expensive” watch I bought when I was 18 was a Citizen Blue Angeles Navihawk. Still have all box and papers for it. I hope my life stays blessed and I will never have to part with any of my watches. I kinda blame my Grandfather. He has a TT DJ he has had for about 8 years. But the real bad influence was him and his clocks. He has 66 chiming clocks all of which he has parted and put back together. As a child I remember going over and always being fascinated with them and looking at his work bench with all of these tiny parts. I guess now it is my turn now my son is waiting to get his hands on the Pepsi 1675. he is only 9 so it will be a while…

I have a 1957 gold Rolex that was passed down from grandparent to dad then to me. It's old and gold and I don't like it. Don't wanna be the one to sell it off our family. So I gave it to my teenage daughter.
Do I love it? No. But I love my Sub Date V series. |

hahahaha this is what i thought sometimes its not how the watch looks like or what it was..but its the sentimental value that the watch has makes it more valuable...imagine if you have sold it...your dad will grill you alive hahahaah

I love my sub date. I bought my fist "submariner" when I was about 15 years old - from Canal street in NYC. $25 if I recall correctly- a cheap asian replica. Nevertheless, I loved the style and fell in love with the watch. Considering that the watch lasted less than 1 year before breaking I bought a countless number of replicas.
Eight years later...Finally I bought the real thing, what I always wanted. I think its safe to say I will always love my Rolex.. |

FYI, the 1957 Rolex is still working fine. Used to wear it 25 years ago. My grandpa and dad have gone to heaven. My daughter is the 4th generation owner ... that's a big "WOW" ... it's a Rolex that outlive its owners.

I bought my first Rolex a year & a half ago before endlessly debating whether I would get in the all white metal with diamond dial or two tone with diamond dial. Finally decided on the all white mop diamond dial because I loved the mop and was slightly more into white metal at the time. Well about a year later I started seriously regretting not getting the two tone and knew what I had to do...after finding out I would loose too much to trade in in with the AD, I ended up selling it with a relatively small loss. I LOVED my watch but I knew I should have gone with the two tone mop diamond dial all along but was just scared away by the price even though in the whole picture, it wasn't much more then the all white...So now I plan to have this watch for a very very long time. Right now there isnt a style that I love more or is more me.
