If you mean sought after as in what are most potential buyers looking to buy, DJ or maybe a Sub LN.
If you mean most difficult to buy at retail: -D500 white and then black -SkyD blue -BLRO -Hulk -BLNR That's my best guess. |

I believe "Kermit'' refers to the anniversary model before the "Hulk'', so it's the one with green bezel and black dial.

I thought the same thing. The markup % greys use must factor in the difficultly in obtaining the watch, and % increase over MSRP seems like a better measure than raw price.
As I was curious, below is the markup % from MSRP according to DavidSW for Unworn Condition, Protective Plastics in Place watches, unless noted. Granted, it is not a robust sample size, but I am willing to trust that DavidSW has done the research. I’ve included the % markup and the $$ markup for each model. 100-percent club DaytonaC W +16.1K 130% GMTII BLRO +10.1K 109% (~114%)* DaytonaC B +12.1K 98% (~103%)* SubLVc +8.5K 94% GMTII BLNR +7.7K 83% (~95%)** SkyD Blue +9.4K 66% SubC ND +2.7K 37% GMTII CHNR +4.5K 32% SD43 +3.6 32% SubC Date +2.8K 31% SkyD Black +3.8K 27%*** SkyD Wh +3.5K 25% DSSD D-B +3K 24% TT SD43 +2.9K 18% EXPII Polar +1.4K 18% (23%)* EXPI +1K 16% EXPII Black +875 11% (16%)* AirKing +475 8% TT Sub Blue +1K 7% DSSD +725 6% (10%)* Milgauss Z-B +175 2% TT Sub Black +175 1% (5%)* Milgauss GV (-25) 0% YM Rhodium (-425) -4% *Unworn Condition, AD Removed Stickers (approx +5% MSRP price to Unworn Plastics in Place). **Excellent Condition, recent Warranty (approx. +12%-16% MSRP price to Unworn Plastics in Place). ***Non-DavidSW trusted GM Dealer New Samples between 20 Jul - 15 Aug 19 |

I agree this is a new poster asking a simple question who has just joined the forum. Once again gets jumped on by the fun-Police who think that they can dictate what topics are viable. Surely all posters are welcome, after all we're all watch nerds on here. If you dislike the topic just ignore the thread.

Thats the majority of TRF members now and probably majority of buyers as well. You'll be lucky to find a true watch enthusiast you knows and appreciates the movement, the workmanship and the history. These days the guys dont even know what a main spring does. |

Mind you, I think there is a slight exaggeration that only 1% of posters on here are watch aficionados / fanatics / nerds. I know quite a few posters personally on here and we do share interesting TRF threads and info on whatsapp and debate them. In this case I just believe a new poster asked a fairly naive question, as I could have guessed that he would get jumped on / trolled pretty quickly. I just don't think there is any need for curt replies. Likewise I'm with you I genuinely do admire the workmanship man-hours, meticulous detail put into assembling high end timepieces. Do I know what each component part does? Absolutely not, I can probably tell you what movement it is bust. I drove a used Aston Martin recently and am thinking about getting it. Do I have any idea whats under the bonnet, except maybe checking the oil, no idea whatsoever, but hell I certainly admire the noise it makes, the craftsmanship. The fact that I have no idea of its inner workings and guts will not stop me wanting to pull the trigger. Have a nice day, debate is good.

The Daytona with the black dial isn't that difficult to get when you are a good client, but for some reason the white dial is extremely difficult to get. I have ordered a Sub 116610LV from one of the ADs I usually go to and was told I wouldn't get mine before October, while I have historically never waited more than four to six months even for sought after models (e.g. 116520). Really feels like grey buyers and re-sellers have created a new distribution channel and drained the main one even for people with longstanding relationships. |
