Good SA in a strong local market and good customer base can make up to 200K, smaller market might be pressed to break 100K. They get discounts, up to management, they're all different.

Here in Canada, they’re in the 50-70k range depending on sales. They’re often negotiating deals to get hot watches on the phone when you’re not around. There’s also a lot of quiet time. Probably boring.
For example. Want a Pepsi? Buy a Day Date or a 20k ring for the wife. Want a white Daytona? Buy the 70k Lange that’s been sitting for 3 years. It’s not the difficulty of the game - it’s what you’re willing to pay and help move in the store to get an SA a higher salary or more commissions. They prefer you go jewelry, because I believe they’ll make more on commissions. |

And the whole store has to be set up and taken down each day. All the watches have to be taken out of the safe, displayed, some stores set all of them and then they all go carefully back in the safe each and every day. That is a lot of work and would get old to me very quickly.

My AD wears a Hulk.
Pretty sure he got one the next shipment he wanted it and at least with some form of staff discount. There's at least 100 jobs that I could rattle off that are more interesting (to me!) than his. |

I love vinyl records but I would never open a store to buy and sell them in order to pay my bills.
The same goes for selling watches. Lots of Tourneau salesman are simply kids living with their parents, wives of rich husbands, or retired people with pensions, so they do not rely on the job as a primary source of income. A Salesman is only as good as his last sale. |

I think some associates get x allocations per lifetime of a privilege to but a Rolex at a slight discount, assuming that model is available. I think they might be able to but 1 every five years, if my memory serves me correctly and if the SA was telling the truth. I have no reason to doubt him, other than he was a Rolex SA.

So reading a lot of your comments it seems a majority have no idea how retail sales work. When saying they make a little over minimum wage is insulting. These are commission based jobs. These people are NOT your friends. You are a steak dinner to them. So an AD is a privately owned business. So a majority of them are family owned. Do you really think this business is going to pay someone selling thousands of dollars worth of watches/jewelry to someone making as much as a person bagging groceries?
I would like this thread to end please. Who cares how much these hard working people make . They are employed and providing for their families. That’s all that matters. |

I think if you were semi retired, didn’t need the income and enjoyed watches and people it would be a interesting job.

What's insulting about inquiring? I don't think anyone is demeaning the sales staff at an AD.
I also don't feel like a meal ticket to them - I may be naive but we're always talking about health issues, work, and general updates. Likewise I don't look at my patients as meal tickets either. My dad retired maybe a few years back, and this thread got me thinking - he's got a reasonable watch collection, is personable, and knows a ton - it'd be a great 'fun' gig if there's money to be made. In all areas of sales and given the same products to sell there are some who are keen and very successful and those who are not.
There lies the variation in income. There is no fixed $$ figure when salary and commissions are available.

The most boring job is to be a sale consultant, even if for an expensive watches manufacturer. You will stay the whole day on your legs, meeting rich customers who will come and piss you of with millions of questions. There will be moments when you will fell asleep on your legs due to boring atmosphere in the store. I worked for Patek Philippe for about one year and I couldn’t wait that moment when I will finally quit. The salary was great, but the working process was so boring and tiring. There were days in a row when we had no customers or online requests. Now I’m doing different online jobs from themoneymix.com, which are more informative and educational. I don’t want even to remember about the job as a sales consultant.

My local AD owner is a moron. I don’t say this as not knowing all about them. Very slimy used car salesman kind of personality that has burnt many bridges in the business community for a host of reasons.
I am involved in the business community and know how he operates. He doesn’t make that much money and pays his employees a tick above fast food wages. The sales associate position is a revolving door and you can find them working another part time job besides selling Rolex watches. In no way would these employees afford a Rolex watch even at a store discount. It’s bare bones retail sales wages. Perhaps larger AD’s may pay a decent living wage but I have not seen any evidence of these jobs being anything but entry level. This is also why the forum golden rule was established as...”Never hand your Rolex watch over to a sales associate”. Unbelievably bad things can/have happened including to one of my watches for a simple “free cleaning”. |

Where to get this kind of a job? Are those posted on like normal job search websites like jooble or indeed or it's a bit more complicated than that? Actually, I've never even thought about how fun such a job might be. Sadly, I am not that into watches to get such a job but still, I am pretty curious.

You'll have to know or learn the jewelry business too. That's what most customers will be coming in for. Maybe after a year you'll be able to buy a Rolex although most likely a DJ or an SS that's considered low on the totem pole with a small discount if at all being 2021 and most likely 22 will see the least amount of new Rolex available for anyone.
