It's easy the most comfortable Rolex there is but not for the wannabe divers, pilots or race car drivers
A YM is in a league of its own

But the attitude towards the YM isn't new; up until a couple of years ago they were both available at the ADs. Anyone wanting the function of the YM could get it for much cheaper in the Sub Date. Many can still get watches through the ADs and at MSRP the YM is expensive.

I just purchased a rose gold YM with black dial. Its an amazing piece and the bezel is soooo cool. in my opinion much more visually interesting then a ceramic bezel (I own more the one). what's also awesome about this model is that its available. I have gotten so turned off by the whole 'difficult to get' ss thing that I took a good look at my own taste and interests as opposed to what consensus led me to believe. what I came to realise is that there are many other beautiful watches in the Rolex lineup, each with its own special attributes. The Yacht Master is a bit old school because of its smaller polished case. As mentioned, that bezel is amazing for anybody that likes a bit of sparkle and a nice touch of elegance. This combined with the maxi dial, fine handset and tt oyster band create a unique wearing experience.

I know “tool watches”, but don’t know what are sport watches. The stainless steel tool watches were developed in the early-mid ‘50’s. Today, in my mind, the one true tool watch is the stainless steel submariner, with or without the date.

ive always saw it as the rich man's sub. It lacks the depth rating and makes up for it with bling factor.

I love it. Both rhodium and blue dial but honesty the bezel is what turns me off. Scratch magnet, not polishable and style wise that bezel reminds me of an old Tag I had.

Agree case proportions (lugs) on the YM are much better than the six digit sub.
I’d love to see a mash up of a submariner/normal sized ceramic bezel using the YM case and ditching the four line blurb on the lower dial (instead make it two and three or two and two). Now that is a modern sub that I’d be tempted to buy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

YM bezel is actually same width as Sub, about 5mm (rim+insert),. There could be some kind of optical illusion due to PM insert and rim being the same colour, as opposed to black cerachrom insert and steel rim making it look slimmer.

I think it makes the Sub look like the ugly step sister

When I made the transition away from a Datejust, having already owned 3 or 4 of them, my first choice was a Bi Metal (TT) Yacht Master.
I drove over 100 miles to a jewellers up in the north of England to make the purchase, except when I got there, it was a mid size model and I did not want that! So as not to have done all that mileage for nothing, I asked what else they had in the shop, to be shown a Bluesy, which not wanting to drive home empty handed, I bought. At that, and possibly even this stage in my life, I really did want a Yacht Master! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The YM is elegant, both a sport watch and dressy piece of jewelry. I prefer the original gritty platinum dial. What a watch

There are three reasons imo:
1) the bezel is garish and ugly imo 2) the name 3) relatively expensive |

I disagree on point 1 and 2. These are subjective opinions. I love the bezel and am good with the name even though I’m not into boating. Point three is fact and I agree with that. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk |

I also dont see the price issue. In SS and Plat it is similar to the Daytona and in two tone it is only a few hundred bucks more than the TT sub...

Yacht Master is a great name for a water sports watch IMO.

Yacht Master sounds much better than Boat Master or even Rubber Dinghy Master.

Also don’t like the bezel or pricepoint.

It has a pretentious name, IMHO, how many of the owners have a yacht?
