I get that, but a lot of people use the bezel to time simple things in everyday life like time remaining for the parking meter, etc.

And a smart phone cannot do that better? A Casio? Point is a 12k submariner is a luxury for almost everyone in the world. If you tell me they need it to time their hard boiled eggs and they then turn around and ridicule gem set watches like its an extravagance it shows a complete lack of perspective and narcissism.
