In all honesty send it in to Rolex and have them remedy it. Prior to this take pictures etc of the overall condition and have an expectation that, other than this issue being addressed, the watch will come back in “like new" condition. This should not be accepted, either the initial issue or more wear, if other marks appear.

Why not return it and have your AD get you another one?
All it takes is a call to the local Rolex rep. explaining the defect and Rolex will make it right. Why go through the hassle of sending to RSC and waiting weeks for it to get fixed? You paid $10,000 for something that has a defect that you are trying to forget (and you won’t). I’ve returned Rolex and Patek before after I’ve gone home and noticed defects. The Rolex was replaced with a few days, the Patek I’m still waiting in a replacement. I just can’t pay for something that’s not right and since you know the AD and it’s clearly visible, it shouldn’t be a problem. Just my .02 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't overthink it. I had the exact same thing my GMT. Brought it to RSC NY at lunch time and got a call to pick it up the following morning. Not a single hair out of place (except the piece of lint...)

Another Rolex QC issue
I would send it in for repair. Once seen, cannot be unseen. Rolex are reliable watches; you may have to wait a decade before a service is needed. By that time, if you need a crystal replacement (assuming it’s the crystal) then you would have to pay.
While service imperfections may occur, the chance is small; if it come back with other minor defects, send it in again, until everything is right. That’s just me. |

I told you...always a GMT. It's uncanny. Is there some kind of GMT specific lint out there?

While I get that this is a mass produced item that some human hands touch, at these prices, this type of fault should not exist. Visible flaws with the naked eye should never pass QC. If this was a Glycine Timex, Seiko, etc., sure, I can see (and have) defects of workmanship like this, but a $10K Rolex? Poor show.
As for RSC, I don't trust them to do an exemplary job (fixing defects or servicing) as I've experienced poor workmanship from them on more than one occasion.

UPDATE:
Hey guys, thanks a lot for all of the opinions. I decided to not overthink it and just take it in to RSC, as I have always had a good experience with them. Well, can safely say that has not changed. I took it in and explained I didn’t love bringing in such a new watch and was very conscious of getting any marks on it. I thought I wouldn’t get the watch back until second week of January (they are closed as of noon today for the holidays), but the tech (who my AD recommended) wanted me to have the watch for the holidays so said he would work on it right away. A short while later, I got it back with no unpleasant surprises. I no longer have to look at the piece of lint and am happy that it was resolved to my satisfaction. Happy holidays everyone! |

Ugh. I feel for you. As anxious as I am to get the AD call, this is my worst nightmare. When buying nice (expensive but non-Rolex) watches in the past, I’ve excruciatingly inspected a few versions of the model I want, often at different dealers, and bought the most perfect one. I hate that we can’t do that in today’s Rolex market.
My two pet peeve flaws are lint in case, and a second hand that never aligns perfectly to 12 (sweeps a hair before then after). I’ve seen the posts about misaligned rehaut. I’d be fine with that. I’d also be ok with a tiny outside case bruise, as I plan to wear the heck out of mine. I don’t think I could live with the lint. I’d have them send it in for you. Watch does look gorgeous though... |

Had a similar issue with one of my PAMs....
I decided to leave it as it is first because there’s no service center near my Hometown.... Also one good thing was that you could only see the lint fiber with the correct sunlight angle. It bothered me to send the watch to be opened since it was keeping very good time...... So I just left it as it was and got very lucky, The lint fiber moved and now I can’t find it..... I just hope it’s still at some number on the dial and not at the movement...... that can cause another type of bigger issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Happened to me, lost the watch for 5 weeks while it was sent to RSC Toronto who really tried their best to make it fast. Just another example of the total lack of care by Rolex
They don't give a damn about quality control, and it shows by the number of complaints about lint and dust on dials. If they cared a little, they would call Grand Seiko to see how it's done. Can lint and dust enter a watch even when caution is taken? Of course. That's not a fault. The fault is shipping the imperfect watch to the dealer after that. |

Rolex clearly care about quality control. If they didn’t, they would refuse to correct these issues under warranty. Dust/lint can and does stick underneath hands, so when the watchmaker assembled and the quality controller checks, the watch looks ok. The dust/lint is dislodged at a later point either during transit or subsequent handling. (Note, I am not saying this is the only way foreign material can end up under a glass, but this does happen) The day Grand Seiko produce a quantity of watches remotely close to the number Rolex do (we are talking roughly 35,000 vs roughly 1,000,000) and has a objectively higher QC standard that stands up against unbiased scrutiny, only then would I say Rolex could learn from them. |

A reputable watchmaker in your city would open it, take that out and close it in 5 minutes.
Thats what i personally would do at the very first hour i got the watch. But maybe im too intense. |

Looks great. But that lint could have made it a collectors piece. Who knows these crazy days. I am joking but we all know people pay crazy prices for flawed watches. |

Glad you had it taken care of. I’m not sure the comments about just leaving it and seeing how it keeps time. To me that’s not very smart. I piece of lint or dust on the crystal can make its way into the movement thru the date window.

Bring it back to the AD, they’ll ship it back to Rolex and clean it out for you. It’s a must, maybe there’s more dust or debris lurking behind the dial and could creep out from the date opening.
