Most people in the United States aren’t into soccer. Never really have been. I’m quite confident most serious sports enthusiasts in the US don’t know who this guy is. I only know who he is because I watched some of the last World Cup because some of my closest friends are from South America.

An FYI to some of the posters expressing disappointment at the criticism of Ronaldo, some of it is meant to be humorous piss-taking - of which celebrities are a natural target; some of it is because Ronaldo is an exceptionally polarising figure both on the pitch (whiny ball-hog with Godlike ability) and off it (various legal problems alluded to above). And last but not least, the dude played for Manchester United so he obviously deserves a ribbing
