I want a date on my three handers so Date for me. After 15+ years of wearing a version of the Sub Date, Subs looks incomplete to me without it.

I couldn't vote, because for me it depends.
One and only: Sub Date In a collection with a few others: Sub The definitive submariner? Well it's gotta be the original sub, so no date. |

I bought my 14060M because it was the best value at the time of purchase (7 years ago) and it was the most modern one as close to the original proportions/features. I can track the date with the bezel, use my phone, or just remember it if need be. The Submariner is just a joy to wear and look at.

I’ve got a sub 114060. Love it but want to trade it in for the date version. Can never remember the date, especially in these sh1te times.

It’s sub with date for me. I prefer the date function, and I like the cyclops also.

Own both. If I had to choose one, would choose Sub DATE!

I'm retired so the date is pretty irrelevant to me. I love the perfect form and symmetry of the Sub.
It's interesting that as of this point, the vote is almost precisely 50/50. |

Sub date and if one does not require a date, an Explorer will suffice rather nicely.

I voted Sub Date, since you said "more practical". A date and a rotating bezel are probably the 2 best additional features one can have in a daily wear.

I prefer the Submariner for it’s clean dial and it’s rich history

For me it’s the sub, I like the symmetry and that I can just set the time and go, if I haven’t worn it in a couple days. Cheers.

When I purchased my 14060m 2-liner in 2004, there were few models without a date and therefore I felt it was the best option for the money ($3,300 and the date was an additional $1,000). Now that there are more no-date models, it is still an excellent choice. I don't care for the cyclops on the sub.

I do not think any knowledgeable person on this forum has any doubt that they make many more units of the submariner date vs. Submariner... They also sell a lot more submariner dates soo....

Submariner.
Of my other watches, some have dates, some do not. I find that the date remains fairly constant all day long, so very little point in checking it more than once. :) But in all seriousness, when I put on a no-date watch (Tudor Black bay for example) I never find myself looking to check the date - so given I can easily live without the small enhancement to practicality that a date provides, I have decided on the Submarine for aesthetic reasons, and will be taking delivery in a couple of weeks. |

Although I can agree with the "all-subs-are-great" statement, there can only be one. So who decides? I think that decision was already made a long time ago by a man professionally known by the three digits of a particular license he carried...

I seem to forget the date every 10 mins and need to check so I wouldn't buy a watch without it!
