Sometimes I get the trade-in bug but I don't plan to increase the number of watches. I recently traded my SS Tudor BB Chrono for the S&G model.

I'm at five pieces with no real desire to add. I think that is my sweet spot.

I’m a one-watch at a time type of guy but the lunch of the Tudor GMT forced me to make an exception.
I got two now, the other one is the SD43. Will never go beyond that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm done with acquisitions right now, and at this point, I’m looking to add only with selling or trading one from my current pool.
I’ve had some periods where I chased after a specific Daytona, Tudor Prince Chrono, and most recently Blancpain, but couldn’t find the right condition/price where I was comfortable with parting with one of my current watches. Of course I realize I could see “the one”, and breakdown and blow up my self-imposed limit/rules and at any moment... |

For years I added one every year around bonus time. Last year my bonus was... let’s just say... smaller than usual so I bought a $20 timex digital watch just for the sake of tradition (and giggles) and actually haven’t really gotten back into buying more since, I think I will get my next one when I turn 40 (which is sooner than I’d prefer lol) where I want to get my grail (116508 PN) and then I feel like I’m set for years to come. Not because I wouldn’t love to add more watches but I have to prioritize other things for me and the family.
I have a quite ‘diverse’ collection in my opinion with several different brands and covering most bases style/function wise - as well as filling up a 15pc Wolf ‘Windsor’ box... As someone wise mentioned earlier in this thread it doesn’t make sense having to service so many watches when many of them just sits in the box.... If only he’d told me years ago lol |

The problem with having too many watches or too many of anything is that it spreads your attention out too thin. You can only focus on one watch at a time and if you have all these watches you're not focusing on any one watch, you're not appreciating any one watch.
In short, you're not getting the full experience with any given watch. Your focus and gratitude is spread out very thin. Contrast this with the guy who buys one Rolex and puts all of his attention and gratitude on it: he is getting much, much more mileage out of his investment than the guy who has 10 watches and takes them for granted. |

I never plan on buying a watch, it just happens. I start looking and I see a deal that I know I will regret if I don't move on it.

No interest in expanding, rather looking into consolidation. Have 8 watches and that is too many IMHO, looking to go down to 4-5, hard to decide!

I consider myself an enthusiast, not a collector. I have a nice 16570 and a vintage Breitling Navitimer from 1985. I love both pieces. I am looking for one more, then done.

It's really not possible to decide this because as an enthusiast you can't just give up once and for all.

Just added a Buckley dialled DJ to my collection, wanted one for ages, now I've got it, I think that is it, no plans to add any more.

I think I have my bases covered for Rolex with the Hulk, Milgauss and the 50th Anniversay SD 43 so I'm not planning on buying any Rolex anytime soon. I was offered a Wimbleton but declined. I am thinking of going for Vacheron Constantine next with the blue overseas (self winding or dual time) or the fifty six blue dial stainless steel complete calendar.

I'm at 10 now with 2 on the way out. I do wear the remaining 8. I am on 3 waitlists now but am in no hurry to receive a call. When they call I'll buy but until then I'm content.

I have a YM Rhodium and a blue dial DJ and at this point, have no desire for any more Rolex's. That may change of course but right now, not even looking.

I don't really consider the watches I have a collection. I sell when I stop wearing something and buy when I want a new watch. Sometimes I sell them all and start again. I get bored really easily.

I have a smurf that I wear all the time every day. I also have a 16613 my dad gifted me. That’s enough. I don’t make enough to have more than that - and my other hobbies need my attention. I want my smurf to last 25 years, when I can even trade it for a brand new SS submariner, just like my dad did about a year ago. I figure by the time my smurf turns 25, a SS sub will be $19k retail.
