I bought my wife the Lady DateJust jubilee fluted silver dial. She is petite so that size is perfect for her.

There's a very big difference between a 28mm and a 36mm watch as opposed to the OP's options.
Besides, the operative word was "elegant" which sort of cancells out the statement watch scenario. IMO.

My Mrs wears all my watches including 44mm Panerai and they all look great on her
