The Nokia 5110. I remember talking on this thing and it would get so hot after while you couldn’t hold it to your ear. When I opened my office was my first cell phone - yikes the per minute charges were crazy too.

Looking back I think it was Motorola. The battery and guts were in the trunk I think due to the radiation or exposure to plutonium or something.

I remember when my wife asked if I wanted it, and after that the pocket Nokia, I thought, "great, I''ll be just another a**hole with a cellphone showing off in public and talking loud in restaurants" but I took it anyway and became just another a**hole yelling into my cellphone.

Now everyone on the planet has one. Except for 2 or 3 people.

Interestingly the cellphone changed a lot of things but one could maybe argue that actually the camera changed perhaps more. The whole police issues. The facebook selfie stuff which made facebook so pervasive, and my ex-profession was devastated by it. (photographer)

I had a tiny Nokia similar to this, was a great phone.

Too many Blackberry's to even try and remember which I liked. I was the admin for my company so I had to try each model before it was deployed...touch job.

God, how many $ I spent on minutes in those days. And I remember the phones were really expensive.

My boss at the time had one of those. He could take the guts out of the car and place them into a special briefcase that with the battery weighted at least 20 pounds. To use it, he would have to open the briefcase and put up the antenna.

I replaced it with this Sanyo model after... I remember relly liking this one because it was so thin I could fit it in my pocket.

Cell phones used to come in bags, and BellSouth used to be a company. . .

I have fond memories of riding around with my dad in the late 1980s-very early 90s with his bag phone plugged into the cigarette outlet of his yellow 944 turbo and the roof hatch stored in the trunk.

What a time to be a kid.

I was still a kid in the 90s but I do remember the Nokia phones. The 90s were the absolute best times.

Mom had the startac flip. My first was the Nokia brick everyone had where you could play snake and change the faceplate a hundred times. I remember getting the razr when it dropped and it was so damn slick...way ahead of its time design wise.

Then in 9th grade my friend Chris bought a phone that had a color screen and web browser. SOB was google searching boobs from social studies and that was just blowing everyone’s minds. I bought one the same week

You have to remember they literally taught us what google was in 6th grade I believe

Nokia always had great designs IMO.

They really did make some nice phones back in the day. I never had one of the 8000 series devices but did see one posted here - those were so sleek. So many memories!
