Not in my experience. You'd think gold was frozen butter the way some refer to it. As an owner of a number of gold watches over time and currently two with polished cases and one with PCLs, I find no significant difference in wear. Now if you plan on dropping the motor from your car with a gold watch on you might find a difference in durability, but not in normal day-to-day wear if my experience is typical.

its all relative , those white stick on "go faster" strips on a ferrari if you like the look cost about £6K!!
