I’ve bought a couple AP’s over the past few months and have kept my 16610 as my do anything watch. I get that you don’t want to do that with a 16618.
If I didn’t keep the sub I’d have picked up a blue black bay 58. Obviously more than a couple hundred bucks. But damn. It’s awesome and can handle the trips with the boys etc

I’ve been wearing this Squale 1545 Maxi Dial for the last 6 years for work. For $570.00 you get a great watch with a ETA 2824-2 movement, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel. For the money you can’t beat it. I don’t like Steinhart because of the curvature of their case. The Squales case is 40mm and curves just like my Submariner.

Sounds like I should have got the 42mm. Not that I'll ever go there again.

I’d instead go up a few notches and go for something like the 62MAS re-issue.

After selling the OEM bracelet for mine and adding a strap I was only into it for about $500. Its really a nicely finished watch for that price.

Seiko , steinhart , etc .. they are all going to run at ~20 - 40 secs a day ..

why bother -- just get a quarts then ..

My daily beater is a Breitling Superocean 2 .. -- COSC , and a tool watch , takes a beating, looks great.
It's tough to say what the accuracy will be, it'll be different for everyone. In the past 40 days, my steinhart 2893-2 has been running +1.8 seconds a day.

Does This Make Me a Bad Person

A picture worth a 1.000 words.

Your money your choice.

I would get a Seiko. Homage is just another word for fake without the logo...

I did the steinhart thing. Homage diver. Can’t recall which. It lasted less than a week and was released back into the wild. Nothing wrong with it but it just did not “feel right” psychologically. I’d get a Seiko or other piece over SH.

I know an homage (copycat) is not a fake but a Steinhart, hmm no, well just not for me. I'm not a hater but just saying there are a lot of other nice choices out there with their own dna for under $500.

Going “budget” is fine...just don’t waste your money on a garbage watch.

On the lower price point end (a relative term), when we’re doing serious manual labor but still want to wear a watch, we have a couple of Orient and Citizen watches. They are workhorses. The Citizen eco-drive movement is pretty cool.

You can’t go wrong with a Seiko.

I don't think Steinhart is a garbage watch - Swiss ETA and 200m water resistance for 3 or 400 dollars - that isn't so terrible in my book.

I've owned a few, not for long (generally resell), just a fun watch to own and flip. I love vintage Seiko as well.

I haven’t read through every response but it seems like the consensus is that you’re obviously not a bad person.

I have a $20 Casio World Timer that I love to wear. Nothing wrong with affordable quality!

Also, before I picked up my Oris Diver 65, I was thinking strongly about an Orient diver.

Personally would just buy a Seiko Diver or another microbrand like Baltic.
