Yes is the simple answer. And whilst all are excellent watches, I don’t consider any of them to be iconic, so i wouldn’t be wedded to them unless they have sentimental value.

I should add though that my collection is pretty boring, with mostly sports watches, because hey, it’s what i like!

Nice trio. Pick up a Speedmaster to add a chrono and different brand. It’s a true strap killer so you can easily change it up unlike Rolex.

If you had to ask this question, then you already know the answer..

For me, any watch collection with only Rolex is a bit “boring”. Although they have many different lines, they all seem somewhat similar with the same pedigree ie. bracelet is generally Oyster or Jubilee only, dials and hands etc.

Definitely try mix in some other brands, Rolex isn’t the end all of watches.

But if your really only into Rolex, you have a nice trio.

A Chrono (Daytona, Speedmaster, El Primero) will be a nice additional (or replacement). Alternatively, based on your lifestyle, a dress watch such as the JLC Reverso, new Master Control or Nomos could also add some diversity.

You have 3 very nice pieces, but I think you're feeling the effects of being on here. When you constantly see people with the same models as you, you tend to start getting bored of seeing the same thing over and over again.

If it were me personally, I don't know that I'd want 3 Rolex sport models. They're all great watches, don't get me wrong, but I'd probably sell off the Explorer and replace it with something a little different.

I don't think it's boring at all. But since you're asking, you probably think it is.

If you wanted to add something more colorful and had to let one go, I'd let the explorer go. The sub fills the role of the explorer, and I'd choose the sub 9 times out 10 to wear.

Probably. I would consider adding some color or a piece with a strap option from another mid-range brand.

Awesome trio. Maybe add a DJ with some color and be done. Or not!

Unfortunately no one can really tell you about your very own collection. But I would guess you already have an answer in mind giving the question was asked lol.

Yes, all black face SS rolex. All are fine watches of course. But yes, for me, I like variety.

Drop one of the sports models and add something like a Datejust. My pick would be to send the Sub packing

How does that saying go? One man's....? I won't say it.

That's a well rounded collection.

14060M - Timeless, solid overall.
126710BLNR - Awesome take on a classic watch with unique flair. I'd rather see it on the jubilee as the new ones are but still a great watch. On my list.
114270 - For me this is the only one that would need to go for me.

I'd replace the Explorer with a DJ/DD to add some formality to the collection.

A Daytona would be a SOLID addition but those are not exactly easy to come by.

If you’re not satisfied (don’t think you are) with the current lineup and the only option is to move one to bring in a new one, then do it.

I’ve owned the Sub and Explorer (both 5 digit) at the same time and moved the Explorer because I like the Sub more. With a rotating bezel, it’s more useful to me.

I don’t see the point of having both a GMT Master II and a Sub, as they look very similar.

I’d probably sell the GMT to find something a bit “out there“ I like.

If you’re asking strangers if your collection is boring, it’s obviously boring to you. How about adding a dress watch?

If you want to limit your collection to three, just save more money and trade one of your SS to PM timepiece later.

It’s all SS Rolex, so yes, it’s mind numbingly boring. Mine is too. Just like Porsche, that everyone on here likes to call it’s automotive equivalent, the brand is “classic” but boring. You want fun? At minimum you have to get something that’s PM or better yet step into another brand and get something that’s maybe still known but less ubiquitous. Maybe a SMP MKII, Navitimer, Santos, GS, Reverso, Panerai, or even AP if your playing in that league. Orr go off the rails and get a micro brand. But yes, your collection, like mine, is devastatingly boring and we’ve got to do something about it.

...a watch collection is a personal journey, so do you think it’s boring?

I too have an all stainless collection (bought at retail) because that’s all I can afford. But I do have different series, sizes, dial/bezel colours etc to make it interesting enough for me.

Is my collection too boring?

126710BLNR (GMT Batman)
114270 (Exp)
14060M (Sub no-date)

All three of them are super iconic Rolex watches and I really don’t have any issues with them. But, sometimes I feel like my collection is too SAFE and CONSERVATIVE. Not sure why, but maybe because they are all same brands or there aren’t any significant differences in design?

Anyways, do you guys think I should sell one of them and get a piece that can bring more excitement to my collection? or Should I just remain as it is?

Fyi, I am not planning to add one more watch as I think 3 watches are just enough and perfect for me, so it’s either a flip for the other one or just remain as it is :)

You have 3 similar watches.

If it were MY collection , I would keep the GMT & Sub. Sell the Explorer.

Buy a quality black leather strap with end-links for the 5-digit Sub so it can further dress up more for formal events.

* optional * I would also buy an Oyster bracelet for the GMT as for some reason, the Jubilee looks slightly off with the BLNR but looks “ok” with the BLRO.

Nice group of watches. Can't see any boring/safe choices as each is quite unique.

Boring versus exciting is subjective when it comes to watch collections where one man's trash is another man's treasure.

As for the three watches you've chosen, all are excellent, iconic watches that essentially define their genre and should definitely be part of a collection but, in my opinion, if these are your only three, I'd consider adding a few other watches. My question for you is why do you want to limit yourself to just three watches? Why not six? Six is a very manageable sized collection where each watch would be worn at least once a week and that offers diversity, as all three of your watches are somewhat similar (black dialed, stainless steel Rolex Professional models), which is fine if that's what you're after but variety is nice too.

If I were you and I absolutely wanted to have a three watch collection, I would probably keep the Submariner and let the other two go in favor of two other types of watches from two other brands. In a three watch collection, I would undoubtedly want one Rolex but probably not two and definitely not three.

There's no law that mandates you must have three, however, and if I were you, I would keep your three and add some other types of watches from some other brands. I'd look at an Omega Speedmaster "Sapphire Sandwich" and a JLC Reverso Duo for starters, as you obviously like icons.
