I agree that a ceramic bezel would atrocious/blasphemes on the ExpII, unfortunately Rolex is a long way from their tool watch heritage and more into the mass market jewellery/flash nowadays. So it wouldn't surprise me given the hype of the ceramic Daytonas. They did also come out with a TT SeaDweller which made no sense at all too.
I'd like to see size reduction to 41mm, 70 hour movement, smaller hands and keep the metal bezel! I'm thinking the incremental change will be minimal as seen in the Subs last year. |

Agree those hands could be tweaked and i would be ok with 41mm and could see rolex doing it to streamline their production by using same case across more of the range. as far as ceramic bezel, i could make a case for a tool watch in that it has better legibility, though durability could be argued. stainless may ding and scratch but ceramic can crack.

IMHO, all they should do to the EXP2 is add a trip lock crown and a mini glidelock.

There's brands out there using ceramic bezels which have been PVD'd to give it a metallic look, which could happen
For me I appreciate the way a steel bezel ages, but as someone else mentioned, these are much more items of jewellery rather than tool watches of yesteryear. |

Totally agree, it should be the most robust all around Rolex.

I tend to agree with you guys about the ceramic, my preference would be:
41 case (same as the new sub) Aluminum bezel Any color 24 hour hand they want but revert back to the old size, I think the new orange is too fat looking. I know it was all for visibility but I just think it looks better. |

Titanium case & bracelet with a grey brushed ceramic insert (easier to match the color to titanium than “oyster steel”).
Light and robust luxury tool watch, with a real difference from the other “professional” models. Oh, and add a triplock crown to make Brian (Brandrea) happy. |

Hmmm....well, I'll go against the hue and cry of all the protestors and say it doesn't look half bad. I'll even go so far as to say I prefer it over the original mock up.
However, to really match up this style bezel and the hands, I think they would need to go with straight hands, and I don't see this happening anytime soon. But, you know what, they didn't call me (this time lol), so you never know... |

I prefer it the way it is over any mock up I've seen.
I hope if they revise it Rolex sticks with the aluminum bezel. |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a steel bezel insert, covered with transparent sapphire ala fifty fathoms.
This would keep the durability, keep the stainless look, and provide protection against scratches. It's funny how every iteration, everyone wants the new Rolex - and ultimately the older models become more desirable after the disappointment sets in. It is for this reason I'm sure that whatever they do, people will be reminiscing in the future about the good ole days of 42mm polar dials with big orange GMT hands. -Freq |

whats the purpose of this watch?
cave exploration or mountaineering? if yes, than good luck with the ceremic bezel what rolex needs to do is a cheaper chrono with an explorer brand |

Could they not blend with rubber a la omega or is that going to make minimal difference to durability?

Awful idea for a trip lock crown. I MUCH prefer the square look of the GMT crown and guards.

Yeah those mockups are terrible. What would you guys think if Rolex just did a straight up reissue of the 1655? Stainless bezel and new movement, of course. Maybe not in 42 but 41 or even 40?

Not a fan of the ceramic bezel mock ups but this in particular looks wrong with the old style font. If this did come true it would be with the modern font found on the 6 digit gmts and current expII

Better new Explorer II Prediction designs
More realistic updates:
1. Update to 3285 2. Trip lock crown 3. Green 24hr hand 4. Green Explorer II text 5. Green date wheel on polar models. 6. Glide lock clasp 7. Reference # change to 226570 Everything else the same. Wildcard is offering in Everose. I’m on the waiting list for this one (SS Polar). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bump that ceramic bezel on a hard surface, without it being held in and somewhat stabilized by a metal bezel and we have ceramic shards.
I suspect we will see some Daytona bezels shatter eventually. I happen to own one. I don’t look forward to that occurring, but it’s ceramic. And it’s exposed. I find myself being more careful with it. That’s the last thing a spelunking and mountaineering watch needs. Fragile, exposed ceramic bezel. That’s a no, for me. But Rolex has not reached out to ask my opinion.
