Tim has always been pretty even handed and honest about his opinion of FPJ watches. I don't see anything change in his coverage based on the latest.

Regarding breguet vs FPJ, the movement arch may be more interesting in the FPJ but $ for $ you get pretty good value in the breguet. At the very least breguet will never give you stamped guilloched dial....

I don’t need to worry about it but I am really curious as to whom you think is on the books of Journe spreading the gospel.

Damn that's rough. I also heard they were doing something big in their store to showcase FP Journe.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Govberg is not a regular Journe AD. They have this hybrid AD/Boutique model where some retailers are "Espaces" -- I believe this pre-dates their Boutiques, where they wanted strong supporters of the brand to help push them forward.

This means they're literally stabbing their friends in the back.

Tim is, indeed, always pretty even handed in general.

Their saving grace is that Govberg opened the new Patak salon in the Miami design district

Fpj made 650 watches last year. I'm not sure why people think this route won't work. To me it indicates they don't have any desire to increase production and will simply increase prices from their 68k average as it stands now.

Yes it sucks for govberg.

Until Patek decides to cancel AD contracts too. Do they actually have any stock at that boutique that anyone wants?

Did business pick up in recent years for watch boutiques in the Miami Design District (without the pandemic)? Several years ago, nobody was going there.

No problem from my perspective. They didn't have an AD in my country anyway, which is neither small nor poor. The nearest retail outlet has always been across the border in Switzerland.

Patek doesn't have an in-house boutique network (they do have two "salons" but that's really it).

As far as TS has said many times, he has no intention of building out his own retail network.

They specialize in making watches.

Period.

Is this AD closure only in the US or worldwide? There seems to be conflicting message in the thread.

It would be a bummer if it is worldwide as I have just found a good AD over in Europe and planned to build a relationship with and have two incoming pieces through him in June/July. Also, will Journe still deliver on order pieces to AD during 2022.

My understanding is that this is not worldwide, but I've no clue about Europe distributorship.

Let me ping my AD. Was a little reluctant to ask as this is probably a sensitive subject.

Only your AD can advise on that as they're in touch with FP Journe leadership.

Talk to your AD.

He also just confirmed that this is an US only change. And let's hope it stays that way.

The tone of his reply also is not very comforting. He thinks the US market is the most mature market so it goes first. And his closing words basically said for now, they are not affected and I can read the unspoken words there

How is the US a more mature market than Europe? Not that he's wrong, just

Not sure how he came to that conclusion but that’s his exact word. Maybe we have more flippers :-)
