I have a friend who has a stainless Daytona, a DD, and a 2 tone DJ with diamonds, on a jubilee, with a “Rolex” patterned dial. He wears the latter every single day no matter his attire and loves that watch. For me, I wouldn’t wear that thing if you paid me. I don’t like 2 tones, jubilees, diamonds, nor pattern dials, and his watch has ALL of that. I have never even seen his Daytona. Point is, to each his own. Get what you like and don’t follow the hype. Unfortunately I love Daytonas, but I have some watches others would consider hideous (Panerai) and I wear them with no concern.

Coming from both DJ and OP, buying a DJ is never a wrong option. It has the robustness, the elegance and the notoriety of a Rolex. Other models within the Rolex range may fizzle out eventually, but a DJ will always be THE Rolex.

You might feel this way now because DJ appears to be easier to obtain and less of a challenge hence less satisfaction but once you wear it long enough it does a really superb job as a watch!

The DJ you have is a classic. Keep it. The new OP’s with the crayon colors are too cartoonish.

Your DJ is a gorgeous watch, but in the end (as many of us have learned!), it's usually best to get what you actually wanted. I suggest wear it daily for at least a week, then re-evaluate. If you're heart actually desires an OP, so be it. Best wishes

Just remember that you can keep it for a decade and sell it for about what you paid...
It costs roughly nothing to own.

Those OP’s are fashion watches and not versatile at all and gimmicky in my opinion. The DJ is and always has been one of the most versatile watches on the planet. Anytime one spends that much money, you get some doubt. Give it time.

It's a lovely watch however if you've only wore it once since getting it, I would say that tells you what you want to know

How come you never see the blue dial with a two tone jubilee configuration? I was just thinking about that.

It would really differentiate it a lot IMO.

The DJ is the staple in the Rolex line and out of all DJ41's you got the best setup Blue Dial, fluted bezel, jubilee band.

Rolex does not offer a blue dial DJ with TT jubilee (just checked Rolex site)

I had the same watch, loved it and still love it. But when I was not wearing my sub or a sports watch with a ceramic bezel, I felt incomplete. Just a personal feeling and never felt completely comfortable with the datejust so I sold it, made ever penny back, but glad I had it for a while. It has to sing to you.

The question is, was your true desire the OP? and did you only buy the DJ because it was available at the time?

If so, doesn't matter how much we tell you that the datejust is a stunning or a better watch than the OP, that feeling will always be there.
This is speaking through my own experiences (having lost so much money buying and flipping to obtain the right watch).

But I've now learnt to buy/wait for the watch I truly want and never settle, even if the watch you're settling for happens to be a more superior model.
The heart wants what it wants...

The fact that you've worn this watch only once suggests to me that it isn't the one you truly desired.
Whenever I buy a new watch, I'm always in a honeymoon phase for a couple of months and can't take the thing off my wrist.

I have a two tone DJ and advocate for it every day. I wear mine at least 5 days out of 7 every week.

However, if you have only worn that beautiful watch once, it could be an issue. Some people may not want a fluted bezel - it is a attention grabbing in a certain way.

If you wanted a playful OP because it fit with your attire and style, a DJ (which I agree is a much better watch objectively) isn’t gonna do it for you

Get the OP and ditch the Dj. You will always question if you should have gotten the OP.

You’re overthinking it. Your DJ has the perfect specs. It’s a beauty that will stand the test of time. IMO, worst case scenario, enjoy your DJ while saving up for the OP to add to the collection.

Always buy what you like. Now, it’s hard to tell what we like when we ask the opinions of others.

You should trade for a brown dial watch to match that cool bracelet

You got a much better watch than the OP but that bracelet thing ruins it.
