If that were the case for everyone, Daytona market prices wouldn’t be what they are today.

Wanting a desirable, or not so, Rolex this days is now beyond anything but luck. As a “VIP” I realize that it’s not even a card that gets you anything quick or not so quick, starting April -May this year.

So might be a time for restrain and buy vintage and see what happens, it’s a new game and
might as well try to loose anxiety and accept it. Don’t spend $$$$ hoping you will get it, might as well save and go grey, but by then by a PM, if not too high past MSRP

I say this because got in collection my “grails” with luck until April after that time, now, it’s basically a very impossible game to play. Unfortunately

In today’s market i doubt months is reasonable. Years, decades and lifetimes are more reasonable sadly.

Reasonable wait time would be 60 minutes since that's how long it takes me to drive to my AD

Wow, that really sucks. I know you've gone gray, too. Imagine how many watch sales an AD could make to you and your family.

Put yourself in the AD's shoes..... you get 1 per year. What are you going to do with it? Sell it to your best customer. Its that simple.

They do get more PM and 2 tone Daytona's in though.

I've seen my AD deliver a few of them. They used to have a solid gold Daytona with gold dial in the case at all times..... no more!

Cannot answer the poll with unrealistic choices

This. Your poll is meaningless. In real life you will have to have some cred with a dealer to get a realistic timeframe. When I asked for a black dial in early 2019 I was told “within a year.” I got it in 9 months. If I’d asked for white(which I did not want) it would have been twice that long due to more people asking for one.
My high volume dealer got around 15 of each dial color that year, it is likely that tightened up since.

I'm not very good at waiting, so the most I would wait is 6 months to a year. And that is if I already have other watches to hold me up. As a one watch only purchase, I would not be able to wait more than a month or two!

3-6 months.
But it all depends on your relationship with AD
