Amazing pair and without the mag is a bold move!! I must have been on something last night! To make it clear, there is not a sub I dislike! I own a 116610ln, despite it being IMO one of the “worst” looking subs ever made, still one of my favorite watches out there. I wouldn’t trade it for the world (maybe for a 126610lv). |

To be fair to that post, I see what he means. Maybe just not articulated very well. The 16610 is by NO means cheap. Just might feel that way if you are used to the bracelet of a modern era sub. However… a modern Daytona ($40k grey) is a far superior watch when compared to Paul Newman’s Paul Newman ($18M grey lol). A lot more to watches than the technical capabilities on paper. 16610lv is one of the classics. |

16610 lug holes. Perfection. For some extra colour put on a green LV bezel like I did, in a five minutes mod

I *love* that watch. And as I said, its green beats to new one in my book. And being one of the last 5 digits it certainly has a better bracelet, though still not as robust as the newer ones. But you can't honestly tell me that you think an oyster bracelet from the 70s or 80s exudes the level of quality that most of us associate with this brand. Charming, perhaps. Bulletproof, no.

I didn’t realize we were designing here:
I would do the following: 5 series lines 14060m dial 16610 thickness Ceramic of 11 and 12 AR coating of the 12 series 11 series bracelet BUT New GMT style clasp (but all brushed) The easy link with the three adjusts is good enough for me to reduce the bulk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Drilled lugs won't happen due to case availability, I respect that from the shop(s) who I've asked for quotes.
The full brushing is 100% going to happen. I did it myself with Bergeon wheels on the 16610, but I'm going to send this one off. HATE the bling. |

If I had to pick a black Sub, I'd personally go with the latest 124060. You get modern improvements (ceramic, higher shock resistance, stronger anti-magnetism, longer power reserve) with a classic design reminiscent of the 5 digits models. AR coating under the crystal is the cherry on the cake. Best of both worlds. The only minus is the larger clasp, IMHO.

Either the 126610 or for me, the SD 16600: it's the perfect diver imho.

LONG overdue for the Sub, Omega and IWC have been nailing it for years. That said keep it on the underside and not dual AR. |

My Submariner 41 is the most perfect variant, well it is to me, it’s the only one I’ve got.
At the moment.

16610 i bought over the newer ceramic versions. Anytime i saw a sub in a pic that i liked, it always turned out to be the 16610. I tried on the newest LV and liked it alot too

124060. Prefer everything about it over the previous gen (which was the best until this release).

I have owned a few Submariners in my collecting endeavor. 4,5,and 6 digit references. but I believe my latest acquisition is the perfect Submariner and that is the 124060. Rolex hit a grand slam with this one.

Rolex Submariner 14060: The Last Of The Best? Are the ref. 14060 and the ref. 14060M the absolute best of both worlds when it comes to the Rolex Submariner? There are certainly plenty of points in their favor. Each preserves the iconic shape of the great vintage references of the past. Each has the classic dial uncluttered by date windows and magnifying lenses, yet both also contain modern movements, with the sort of bombproof reliability upon which Rolex has long built its internationally-renowned reputation. In fact, the movement in the ref. 14060M is the same one that powered the no-date Submariner all the way up until it (along with the date-displaying Caliber 3135) was officially retired from the Submariner collection in 2020. Coupled with that is the patina-attracting bezel, something that will continue to set each individual watch apart as time goes on, and perhaps best of all, Rolex Submariner 14060 watches are still some of the most attainable examples of Rolex’s legendary dive watch that are available on the pre-owned market today. Entry into the ‘last of the best’ club starts at around $9,500 to $11,500 and due to the model’s long production period, examples are often readily available on the pre-owned market. With a history going back over six decades, each reference of the Rolex Submariner is a true masterpiece. As such, there is no such thing as choosing the ‘wrong’ model. But for all-around versatility, the iconic reference 14060 represents the link between old and new, and it is in a league of its own. |

Appreciate all Submariners! My first Rolex was purchased in 2017. Ceramic bezel is nice. As much as a Tool watch as I can make it considering my pampered life. Not sloshing thru the jungles of Vietnam with it like my proud brethren did before me wearing one.

Not sure which one is the "best". They're all pretty nice. Especially the ones without dates.
