Very hard to get a sports model Rolex at retail in Southern Ca, its pretty much like buying a scratch off ticket and winning 10k. Better to just buy it from a trusted seller.

Wow. Please be respectful and civil.

There were comparisons made involving the older versus newer generation of the Rolex pepsi. I made my comparison and gave my input, much of which included factual underpinnings rather than just subjective opinions.

By the way, in terms of things coming out of my mouth, I do not believe that you and I have ever spoken to each other before.

Stay safe

I would love a vintage or prior gen BLRO to compliment my modern one for sure. I do appreciate the charm of the aluminum bezel. I do think the modern BLRO is a better daily companion though, but to be fair, I have not owned any prior iteration.

To the original poster, nothing new unfortunately.... if you love a particular Rolex GMT for the watch only, just go grey If youre thinking about moving on from Rolex cause the dealer/supply issues maybe you dont want the watch badly enough?

I recently discovered that the BLNR and BLRO bezels differ, and you can really see it when they are side by side. You can clearly see that the BLRO has a slightly thinner bezel (and apparently it's slightly more recessed).

Sorry if this is common knowledge, I'm just excited to be able to spot it lol.

He should have said years before i can “potentially” get you something. If there were a real list/line, it wouldn’t be a big deal. If you wanted a BLRO, you put your name in and 24 months later maybe your number is called. But, it doesn’t really work that way.

You might be on a list but people will continue climbing in front of you. When they say years, it’s a nice way of saying you’re not getting that watch from us.

At least the SA was being honest to you.

The reality is that there're just too much demand for the GMT Master IIs, Daytonas, and Submariners. It is time to give up on Rolex if you want a popular model at MSRP.

But if you dump $100K worth of purchases suddenly, I'm sure the SA will change the tone REAL QUICK, or you can go grey.

I think they are also looking for the "New" customer who is willing to buy in.

My AD told me he couldn't sell me another Rolex (I have bought three from him in recent years plus a diamond anniversary ring for my wife, plus a ring for myself) unless I am willing to spend 3 to 1 going forward. So, if I want a $10K Rolex, I need to spend 30K in non Rolex merchandise before they will get me that Rolex I want. Not just hard to find Rolex, any Rolex. I used a TT 36mm or 41mm DJ as an example, that's the answer I got. When I said that wasn't going to happen, he said, be patient in a few years this should calm down, and he could probably sell me again.

I'll bet if I was a new customer and was willing to spend up to get in, I could become a VIP pretty quickly. It makes sense from a business point of view, you can move alot of jewelry that used to sit, every time you sell a Rolex. Plus you can expand your customer base, and create new Rolex fans/owners in the process.
It just doesn't work for me.

When the Ceramic Daytona came out one member on here was told 15 year wait by their AD

Could take years.

Seems legit.

If they haven’t upped production, haven’t raised prices, and aren’t building new factories now; I’d say they could have a 3-5yr backlog which could very well likely never be filled.

I’m not mathematician but if someone else is, speak up. Because I don’t see how this ever becomes a walk in walk out with a Rolex scenario again

This. When an AD says “years,” there are, in my opinion, two potential scenarios usually at play:

(1) You are a valued client who has asked for a watch that isn’t quite justified by your spend history, but is doable in the long term once “higher up” VIPs have been satisfied.

(2) You have little-to-no spend history and have asked for a watch that is not at all justified by your relationship with the AD.

If it’s scenario (1), you may indeed get the watch, but you’ll need to be patient.

If it’s scenario (2), you aren’t getting the watch at all unless the current madness subsides. The AD is just trying to politely tell you to take a hike.

Today I spoke with my AD that my wife and I have done quite a bit of business with this year. He has 500 Rolex's on order and will receive approx. 150 watches between now and the end of the year. He never knows what he will be receiving from week to week; I asked to be considered for a couple of models that I would like to have, both GMTII's. He was receptive, asking me to come in this week, and asked me to bring a Rolex that I would consider trading. I imagine for his selling me a Rolex at msrp he would like to sweeten his deal by taking one of my watches in on trade. I can understand that and would consider it for the right watch. I like either the Pepsi or the root beer.

Look at the bright side by the time we get one, perhaps they will finally perfect the dial color and stop using pastels.

I only had to wait 2 months with a purchase history under $10k. There are just as many stories like mine as there are those being told years.

Does it depend more on the AD or on the several purchases?

Nothing wrong with making purchases and proactively working your way “up” the list, and it is certainly best to do that with a trustworthy and communicative AD, as the whole waitlist is really about uncertainty and risk of never getting the watch.

I’d get on the list soon then and maybe you’ll be surprised in a good way in a few years.

I think he means “given your low, low purchase history… it will take years… unless you start buying other things so I can make a case to our manager/owner to allocate you one.”

What list? I’ve been to a dozen ADs (literally) and not a single one has ever offered to put me on a list.

Dude , your not getting a gmt seriously, time to look other brands. Base off your posts your 20 steps behind unless you want to throw cash at what you desire . They see 100 guys like you everyday and get 250 texts.

In my opinion yes…. Because this craziness was made by this “Rolex lover” who sell it for few grands more…..
Don’t give me wrong but this is one are the main important reason for what’s happening today…..
In 2015 when you find almost all pieces on Rolex AD and on grey market you can buy that piece more cheaper not all was very hurry to buy from AD…. In 2016 I buy my SkyDweller rose gold with bracelet with 30% discount…
So, I think it’s fair by AD to keep that old clients privileges
