it has the integrated bracelet with the new 5 days PR in house self winding movement. it's quite similar to the original genta design, basically a retro-ed. a fully replacement of the current line.

from the usual black/white dial, there's a special color dial which i hope it's sick in real life when they announce the piece.

the titanium version is all brushed matte look
Wish it had been downsized a bit, as they always tended towards large. Was hoping to hear IWC had taken some cues from Zenith when it released the Skyline 36 (or GP reintroducing the Laureato 38).

36 is too small for the current market. look at rolex, downsized and it's a flop

having it at 40mm is perfect. they don't just cater to watch enthusiast/purist.
they have to cater to the mass public who feels 40mm is the right size.

if it's a 36, i would pass on it too. too small even though i have 36 day-date but that works because its vintage.

Doesn't have to be 36; a watch like that, with a thick bezel, can definitely go 37-38 (like GP/AP). Can't judge the Rolex Explorer as a flop simply because it didn't generate the over-hype of other models. DJ/OP also slimmed down somewhat for current iterations.

DJ/OP have a huge range from 28-41mm so everyone have a choice of what they like

i think 39/40mm is the perfect size for the watch market.

True, but no reason that couldn't happen here. In fact there used to be multiple sizes. Probably would have made sense to follow the RO/Skyline/Laureato logic in that regard: 36-38 and 41-42 options. There is a market for smaller.

I also lament the days where manufacturers enjoyed the challenge of seeing just how much could be packed into smaller cases. The Ingenieur was always somewhat of a technically advanced watch, so the ability to incorporate all of that into a 36mm case back in the day was a bit of a "flex" for IWC.

That’s really good to hear! And congrats on the incoming :)

Two things I’m most curious about is if the bracelet has a decent taper and if the bezel is as thick as the original.

I’m not a fan of this bracelet as it makes the watch look more like a bracelet that tells time. There is almost no taper here. Especially if you compare it.

possibly in the future if the line does well but for this year, only 40/41 (either 1, couldn't recall the actual specs)

And glad to see they totally retro-ed it... look what Vacheron did with 222... minor tweaks on legendary design...

yes, they already have pieces where you gotta be a client first before you're put into the real waiting list, at least here in singapore

the AMG F1 Pilot, Woodlands, Lake Tahoe, Mojave etc

A little over a week and we will finally see it! Has anyone else got a sneak peek again in the mean time?

By the way, when searching I got this article on IWC’s website:

https://www.iwc.com/nl/en/specials/gerald-genta.html

It said on Google it was added / changed less than 24 hours ago (so I don’t know if this is old or new). The marketing has started.

Pretty excited that this could be actually happening. The 5-day IWC movement is quite nicely decorated, so I'm hoping this watch has a see-through caseback. That and IWC's quick change system would make this a must-buy for me.

IWC at WW is having private virtual preview for some clients who has to sign NDA. I am not waking at 7 or 8am for the preview. Comes April the boutique for certain clients will have display on ipad about some upcoming products not shown on WW. Sorry not much can be said by me, as NDA is involved.

I am also equally excited as well.

something like these but less green and lighter, definitely not tiffany (yucks) + the dial pattern shown above.

Is this closer to the actual teal colour?

And is the dial smoked like the examples shown going from teal in the center to black on the sides?

Is the blue made out of titanium? If so, bead blasted or brushed/polished?

Are any of these limited edition? Hopefully not!

:)

what about the actual design of the watch? is it closer to the original design or the more modern/recent models?
