Would not wear a Rolex in Mexico. Sad, but true. Never felt in danger there around Yucatan but that’s because I didn’t care about my belongings. Felt zen, and stayed zen. |

On the travel question, would people feel more comfortable in Cancun with the watch on a non Rolex bracelet? Say a camo Horus/black Daytona? Flashy but not obviously a Rolex without the oyster (and no clasp so not oysterflex). |

Like most here say, wear a cheap plastic thing.
Whatever purposes you go there for, you want to prioritize your energy and focus on those things. Constantly be looking over your shoulder in fear of getting harmed over a watch is simply counterproductive. |

While I totally understand the risk, there is no other place I enjoy my watches more than on vacation because of the memories they create. Its part of me and no way I am going anywhere without my favorite watch of the moment on my wrist!

I would bring a fake Rolex - these places are not safe.

I personally don’t see an issue with any of your choices, provided you are visiting safe areas.
I wear my BLRO when I travel, (last month in Rome, Bologna and Venice). Some would say that’s not safe, others would disagree. Me personally wear my watches where I feel personal safety is not at risk YMMV |

So far, I've been fortunate to have visited 73 countries for work and/or leisure. A Rolex accompanied me to almost every one of them. Times change. Crimes are becoming increasingly more violent. It's luck of the draw whether your get targeted or not. If you are targeted, you should count your blessings if they only take your possessions. Your life is worth nothing to a street criminal in many countries including my own USA. All this talk of being aware of your surroundings is silly. Even workers at resorts will sell you out to their criminal friends to target you. You are a soft fluffy bunny surrounded by lions in a foreign country or unfamiliar city.
Would I wear Rolex abroad today ? Yes, in some countries, no in others. If I were going to Mexico or most of LatAm next week, I'd wear my Seiko, Citizen or Timex Navi XL and not sweat having bait on my arm for the thieves. YMMV. Enjoy your trip no matter what watch you decide to take, |

Up to date life insurance is more important than watch insurance depending on where you go wearing someone's potential years or even life's earnings on your wrist.

It's a day-date with a rotating bezel, which is perfect for a vacation where I never remember the day of the week, let alone the date and the bezel allows me to track a second timezone, or track a meter. Perfect. |

Does not sound like a safe place to visit. A watch would be the least of my concerns

can’t believe people still make these type of post. You will get robbed at NYC , London , Paris, etc. It doesn’t matter. If you want to roll the dice go ahead , it’s your choice. if you navigate the posh parts of town there is a lot less possibilities to get robbed, just use common sense and you will be fine.

I think it's foolish to even consider it.
And more so to ask strangers for advice.

with whats going on globally, and the cancun beaches being attacked, saw it news like few weeks ago, I would go very low key and Gshock. Its not worth it to draw attention at this time in that country. Besides, what benefit would you get? Just my 2 cents

For personal safety I would not wear a Rolex in Mexico or anywhere in LATAM. If you must, from your collection, I would go with the GMT which is the least flashy of the three.

I am going away for a month and visiting several places that I would consider questionable safety wise as well as not wanting to flaunt luxury. I will be bringing 3 Rolex with me because we will be staying in places where we won’t be out in public during some evenings.
My solution for the rest of the time is this…just came this morning (and I thought getting a Casio would have no problem getting one!) |

I would not wear a Rolex or any other expensive watch in most parts of South America... I love the continent but I am aware of the much higher risk of getting robbed there.
