Was told the same thing.

Really glad i'm not in some major world city, some of the six figure -- annual! -- spends and not qualifying for VIP? Hard to believe, I mean there's a million of these watches out there, do these VIPs want a new Sub and GMT and Daytona every year? Find that hard to believe.

I was also told by the AD that with totally empty cases, this was their biggest year ever selling Rolexes. Sold totally outside of the showcase

If the AD is in a reasonably strong area, they’ll have dozens of 6 figure a year customers, even some 7 figure spenders.

£85k over 3 years certainty isn’t nothing, but won’t have you swimming with the big fish

I cant believe the pepsi is harder to get than the daytona. I never expected the daytona to be offered but received it 22 months after asking for it. The spend it’s not it. They have to
like you!! I’m not sure why RF’rs don’t know it. With my personal exoerience: Be genuine-they can tell flippers! Make friends with a good sales person, make yourself different, talk about your collection, don’t come across as you know it all, just a collector or starting a collector, if you have watch from your dad or trust i’ve that they gave you, wear that. Dress nicely, style goes a long way. Chat about watches, look at other brands…, maybe buy one that you “always” wanted but not too $$$ or too low. Maybe a Cartier or an Omega…. Be simple. Chat about family, your profession what you like it, etc… find out how long they been at the store . Once they offer a first Rolex that you
like take it, and then say in 6 months or a year you would like a…xxxx, then see what happens… always send a written thank you note quickly …-after first allocation…. after a few weeks stop by with a nice wine that you like and share it with the AD.

Being friendly, simple, interested and kind goes a long way… like anything in life…

Then spend builds up, but relationship are made with kindness not just $

You've done pretty well. Especially for SoCal. Did you ask for the Daytona?

Oh no, that’ spend is on watches - Rolex and Tudor. My SA, which I had a developed a real relationship with, left the store and moved on to real estate. I check back in with the AD and every time on every watch I now ask for they say “years.” They definitely know me, I am super polite and friendly with the staff, it’s now the owner of the shop hand picks who gets what and he has a list of friends that doesn’t include me.

I’m in the process of spending $150k on a corporate order (all non rolex). I’ve personally spent $20k this year at the AD (just started the relationship this year). Based on this corporate order and my spend I’ve inquired about 2 sports models (Pepsi and Sub) that are in high demand. Asked if I could expect 1 before March and the other before end of 2022. Manager laughed and said to start checking in 4-8 weeks before I want them and shouldn’t be a problem.

We’re also starting this as a new program for the company so I should have this spend every 1-2 years.

I do think I may now be “VIP”

There is a dart board in the office and they shoot darts all day just to see who is next. you get your name on the board after spending 100k. Your name goes into a special black box that makes a funny noise when it goes in if you dont have any purchase history.

This topic could be discussed until we are all Blue in the face. Not ruling out past history but timing and/or the occasional walk in at right time can not be ruled out. Sometimes its meant to be and Happy New Years to all on TRF

You're right. Although spend history may factor in to your luck to some extent.

My Polar was a walk in with some AD spend history and no Rolex spend history. AD had one in the vault. Z Blue was a walk in with some Rolex spend history, AD had it on display. Roll on a couple of years, OP 36 from the vault for my wife on a walk in. Five months later I was offered a BLNR out of a consignment that had come in that day, when I was in the AD to drop off a broken Z Blue. They had also just received a TT white Sky Dweller, which I took in preference.

I've waited for my Bluesy, CHNR and BLRO. I'm waiting for one more. So as far as my AD goes, the walk ins have tied with the wait lists. But this has been from early 2017 to date. In January 2022 I doubt it will be so easy to bump into things, but it can happen and it sometimes does.

That’s decent going, considering LA, London ADs etc have people spending over 1m annually. In fact places like Harrods I believe have people who spend over 10m annually…..crazy.

I guess the 1m plus spenders will be the VVIPs lol

Especially given that you may not want the first watch you have to buy. Depending on the watch you have to buy and the one you want, you may be better off just going grey from the beginning.

On the other hand, that really does sound like what you have to do now.
