I have noticed the wholesale market, which partially supplies gray dealers has jumped up quite significantly as well. The margin that was once present is much slimmer now. As for what is fueling the increase in price in the wholesale market I am not sure. May be due to the spike in resale prices causing less and less people to want to sell, but stockhold instead?

I’ve noticed too that all the trusted dealers (Takuya, chase @ Nashville watches and DavidSW) all have zero pandas in stock. Nobody finds that odd that all 3 of those dealers don’t have any??? Chrono24 has 47 white dial 116500’s in stock readily available. Stock just seems lows…..

Yep. Me too. I usually browse all the big sellers own sites a few times a week and have noticed the same. Don’t think it’s some big conspiracy but maybe they are all low atm. One things for sure Everose is through the roof wherever you can find one and not just Daytona’s. GMT’s, SkyD, YM, DayDates. All just insane.

Omg I hope one my A D’s come through this year because I damn sure ain’t paying these prices

I have noticed they have been drying up over the last month everywhere even more than the before. I have also noticed the CHNR TT has really gone up the past few months. Many including myself predicted the Ceramic Panda going to $50k by the end of the 2022 but it looks like it may do that much sooner.

EWC has 7 Daytonas available.

I spoke with two of my grey dealers I work with, both do high 2000 watch yearly volume. They both mentioned there was little to no inventory in December, no one wanted to trade or sell watches in.

If people analyzed common stocks in as much depth as DSW’s watch stock, they could more easily afford his gray market prices.

Daytona’s only go in one direction so you will want to make a move the sooner the better.

I think the Daytona is now setting into owners that are long term players and quick flips don’t happen at this level as the volume isn’t there to start with.

Guys are hoarding watches. Investors, collectors, savers - watches are being squirreled away.

So I guess this might be quite a common thing.
What were you enquiring about and how much were you asking? If we assume it was something like a GMT or Sub Date, an offer of £3k below what they sell for sounds OK. Businesses cost money to run. WF also ask top prices, so you are getting a higher range offer to start with. Plus they will haggle.

As for some grey's thin stock, how thin is it? How much do they have unadvertised? Having a window full of watches might make a prospective buyer inclined to cogitate and watch out for changes. One or two in the window tends to give more of an impression of rarity and the need to buy before the next person grabs it. But who knows?

These guys know the market. Rather than taking the beating the social media and forums will give them by one day at $X and tomorrow at $x + $y they often do this. Pull down all the inventory for several days to make everyone think they are out and then whammo the new listings go up and the new prices are in.

Happened when the Hulk started going crazy. It happened a little over a year ago when the white face Daytona was going crazy with the big jump in short time. I browse the top TS weekly and it just isn't coincidence that they have 4-6 for sale, one day they have zero the next and then a week later they have 4-6 for sale again at the higher "market price".

BTW I would do the exact same thing since they are selling at a "buy now" price rather than an auction pricing model. They know their sh&t. It is the reason they all run very successful gray dealers.
