Buy and wear what you love, don't think about GOAT.

I don't really care about naming the GOAT so that "hypers" have yet another goal to achieve to establish their fragile superiority and look down their noses at others. The watch owned by PN has proven to be the costliest to own as it sold at auction at a higher price than any other watch to date. That sounds like something tangible but hardly a be all end all definition of GOAT.

When you are among REAL MONEY people, trust me the SS Daytona is insignificant. AP, PP are the ones that are what they wear. I see it a lot, and I can say among the really wealthy folk, Rolex in general is a bit passe in my opinion. They moved on.
I am nowhere near that level, and I honestly prefer Rolex over any PP or AP. |

It’s up there. Def top 5 in my book. It’s symmetry it’s amazing and with the black bezel, sub dials, tank of a movement and comfort just ticks so many boxes. I have a vintage Daytona and it hostels feel tinny and cheap. Modern Rolexes are just at another level now and the Daytona is at the forefront of modern Daytona’s. For though the Day Date is also up there and then the modern divers are just amazing.

However, IMO, there isn’t really a “GOAT” because, aesthetically, and tech-wise the Rolex range is very divergent. For example, I love the LOOK of the 6538, but the bracelet and clasp are much better on the ceramic subs. And, the movement of the newest sub41 is FAR superior. The same can probably be said about the panda. It’s beautiful, but technology wise, it cannot be the greatest compared to today’s Daytona! I honestly don’t understand how the Daytona became the hyped piece that it is. I mean only a decade ago they were highly discounted I believe… 🤷*♂️ |

OK, seems like a non sequitur on my failure to find a search for the greatest watch of all times worthy of discussion.
