If they ever do come out with the 222, it will be in very high demand (impossible for shmoes like me to get). I still consider that the all-time best bracelet for an integrated watch... or any watch.

Friendly heads up as build is now out to Feb or March 2023. The longer you wait, the longer you'll be waiting.

you can book it that Zenith if you dont count it already is the next brand on the rise. Otherwise BVLGARI due to incredible watch making and brand reputation. Parmi is just too niche to get main stream exposure. GP has been mentioned as well but that just dealers buying up inventory and hyping up the market since people are priced out of rolex ap pp

Another friendly heads up, Laine is booked out until Q4 2022 right now.
For those who missed it, my Muse conned me!!! She's claiming this one and will 'allow' me to wear it when she's not.

Everyone has a opinion. Of course I do too, but as a watch is a mechanical piece that tells time and it is supposed to be accurate with certain degree of fluctuation expected at different price range, how could one be okay with AP known movement inaccuracies at the price point it commands. Also, a watch could also be considered an art piece of which innovation is another important consideration, be it the dial design and movement innovation. Lastly, number of awards...GPHG, as simple objective measure of number of crierian met to receive the award. But of course Avenger movies as blockbuster movie are not considered worthy enough for an Oscar. Black Panther was an exception - there was political reasons behind for its nomination.
If you are looking at watches as an investment, then it's likely a different perspective. As a watch collector, that is how I look at my watches. I have a Kari Voutilainen Sports28 coming in 18 months and working on a bespoke one with him. I think Kari has a very unique combination of both art and business sense. 8 GPHG awards and acquiring Urban Jürgensen. I look forward to his future. But he is not most known for his movement innovation, unless I see he creates a resonance as the fourth only watchmaker that can create one. And of course I am waiting for my Resonance from Journe. Also, to take off does not mean it will substain. Czapek, sure, but for how long? Are we talking about taking off during this environment when everyone has free money from the government and inflation? Moritz Grossman? sure but Christine is no watchmaker. Grönefeld has already taken off. Vacheron is the oldest manufacturer and still well alive. With independent watchmaker, one has to think about what happens after the watchmaker dies. I have two overseas, a rose gold and SS blue dial, beautiful and elegant, sure, but it's certainly riding on this wave. Few years ago, one can buy a nautilus easily, right? remember? Rolex is in a different world as a property equity value proposition. A toolman's watch, minimal movement finish thus you will never see the open back, and durable. During wars, one escaped easily with a gold Rolex than a bar of gold. This value perception imprints on many people including me, but will I go buy a rolex , no for the reasons above, except the one my father passed onto me. So my answer to the op question is that it really depends on how we define taking off. At the end of the day, just buy what you like. Same wisdom one shares commonly on Fchat. If one worries how much it depreciates, then maybe it is not the time to buy one yet. |

I don't think you can go wrong with either, to me it is more of a question regarding what are you looking for? The panda is going to be sportier and the PF a little more refined and dressy. I've seen the black dial tondagraph in person and it is really well finished. I haven't see the PF chronograph, but I have a feeling that the blue is special.

Tough call the white pops but the new one has an integrated movement and is 1.3 mm thinner. I think that would at least require me to try it on. That said man that split seconds in platinum they did is the ticket. I can’t afford it but wow.

Controversial position here. GP sucks. It’s getting live from everyone who can’t get an AP.

Perhaps... if they can get the case size down.
I do have high hopes for the new management. |

I agree with you on GP's rise being due to dealers and people being priced out of Rolex/AP/PP, but that doesn't mean that it won't take off. GP makes some pretty awesome watches, but many hesitate to buy due to the depreciation you experience after buying. If dealers are successful in hyping the brand enough to eliminate that depreciation, I think there will be genuine interest in the brand to continue supporting the rise up. Hype or no hype, GP is no slouch, having been around longer than AP/PP/Rolex and the Laureato beat the 222 and Nautilus to market. |
