Can you tell SS/WG/PLATINUM Rolex from distance?

Up close, platinum has a blue hue compared to SS, depending on the light. This PT dial and bezel look nothing like the SS case and bracelet in this picture. Might also be due to the sandblasted finish bringing that colour shade.

Patek puts a small diamond between the 6:00 lugs on platinum watches, visible only to the wearer. The weight of a platinum watch is a very different wrist experience.

I can’t tell which child is my daughter at a distance, i would never be able to tell ss vs platinum or white gold .

What distance? The guy on the bus next to you is three feet and not moving or the guy passing by you in a crowded airport terminal? I own all three and from 10 feet I can't tell. I buy for the "heft". When I put on a SS after a WG or PM, it actually feels cheap.

At a distance no way. Up close without touching and with no watches next to each other so you can compare metal it will be difficult for most. Not all but most.

After a day or two of wearing my plat dd is hard to tell it’s plat. When cleaned there is a deeper lustre to it vs ss but not after hand oils etc get on to it.
