I'm not going get involved in the discussion of whether having grid girls is right or wrong in today's world, but all I will say is that a good friend of mine used to go out with a girl who had done that work from time to time, and I met her on a number of occasions. All I can say is that she absolutely loved the job and was gutted when F1 stopped using them in 2018.

She said it was fantastic as she got to mingle with the rich and famous, occasionally got her face on TV (which was good for her portfolio), had a great day meeting fans/promoters/racing team members, etc, plus she got to watch the race for free. And she said the pay was a lot better than other gigs she did. She actually said she felt incredibly lucky to be able to make a living out of looking like she did, although she said there was also a lot more PR to it than people imagine.

Obviously her experience doesn't necessarily correlate to the experience of everyone else, but she absolutely never gave the impression that she (or any of her friends) needed a white knight to ride in and save her from the career path that she chose. Quite the contrary in fact: she would rant about what she called the "PC brigade" taking away one of the best jobs she'd had.

All of them would be very concerned if I missed a beautiful woman walking past and did not look .

My wife is a MD and deals with anti-aging medicine every day .Part of this is loss of sexual desire with ageing .Her other specialty is cosmetic dermatology .Botox ,fillers etc. Wonder who her patients want to look attractive for ? Other people perhaps ??
